Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
I submitted my old ielts score which did not make the all 7.0 bandscore... and i told them, i will give another result on october 9th. they called me up and told me that my status is currently pending.you can apply through email with them. i guess cert of registration is fine.
when did the NBV assessed your documents? if they have assessed it prior to july 2009, then a score of 6.5 in reading and listening is still fine...:) have a read at the NBV's website or better ring the NBV...:)
i still want to apply at la trobe but the requirements are hard to submit, i really want to have a filipino classmate.. but if la trobe wont offer me any position, then i might just apply at deakin and hope that there will a filipino nurse in there...:)
Hi guys!I just want to ask this. If I work as an enrolled nurse in Australia, can I still bring my family with me?
You cannot migrate to Australia with an EN qualification:
"There is no nominated occupation with corresponding ASCO code under the Skilled Occupation List for Enrolled Nurse, Registered Nurse (Division 2) Licensed Practical Nurse or Nurse Assistant. Nurses who have these qualifications are not able to apply for assessment of their skills under General Skilled Migration."

yes, a student visa allows you to bring family members although it has a bigger financial requirement. like you have to show money that you can provide for your family for the first year in australia including sending your school-aged children to school .
there are enrolled nurses (ens), endorsed enrolled nurses (eens) and registered nurses (rns) in australia. "en" doesn't mean you are enrolled in an undergraduate nursing course. one cannot use en qualifications to migrate, i believe. haha :chuckle just my 1 cent.

hi, i think @good +samaritan is talking about working visa or student visa and not the migrant visa...:)
he/she can apply for a student visa to do the BP and then apply for a working visa to work as EN after obtaining a registration, then i do believe that she/he can apply for a residency visa after two years of working in australia...
skilled migrant visa, student visa and working visa are three different things...:)
With regard to this
"There is no nominated occupation with corresponding ASCO code under the Skilled Occupation List for Enrolled Nurse, Registered Nurse (Division 2) Licensed Practical Nurse or Nurse Assistant. Does this mean that the EN status cant migrate based on the general migration scheme but can instead go and like what ryan09 said do the bridging program find work then petition his family? I thought the Enrolled nurse was a Division 2 Nurse ..what are the other classifications for them ? I dont get this?
Can anyone explain this? Do they follow the same bridging program as the RNs?

hi there guys! i am now officially freaked out because till now i have yet to receive my assessment from the Council (submitted it June 16).
anyway, i am not really familiar with General Skilled Migration but i think what good samaritan is asking if he/she can work legally in AU. I think the answer is yes, given that he/she has been granted the EN license (he/she been assessed as EN, took the CAS as EN and granted EN license after passing) and an employer will sponsor him/her. So for some time ENs can work (with a working visa) then later on apply for Permanent Resident status.
I think the General Skilled Migration route is for nurses who have years of experience to back them up who are wanting to migrate to AU by using their employment experience as a qualification, as in the migration route with the points system (?).
but that's just how i understood it when I attended an orientation by one consultancy firm. Anyone who has more info on this please correct me if i'm wrong and also enlighten us. I think it's time we also have more info regarding ENROLLED NURSES.

One cannot apply for a working visa (subclass 457) without a sponsor and a student visa is only granted for courses of more than 3 mos. Enrolled nursing is not a skilled occupation under DIAC and correct me if I am wrong but have not heard of any bridging program for overseas enrolled nurses. If one is educated as an RN in their country of origin, the credentials will have to be assessed as such, I believe. EN or Division 2 nurse is not a degree in Australia and is under TAFE (vocation) particularly in Qld. One cannot obtain "REGISTRATION" as an Enrolled Nurse or an EEN as this pertains only to RNs. For ENs they call it enrollment. And pertaining to your suggestion in individual application for residency visa after two years of working in Australia, one's skills will still need to be assessed by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC). Hope this helps.
ENs are eligible for nomination under 457 visa:

However, please note that as per DIAC's website, EN independent application (subclass 175) for residency is not allowed.

Exactly, that's what I thought so too.
Have you guys ever tried consulting with migration agencies to... say, like Canada? They have different categories and each with corresponding pts. More years of experience mean more points. The same goes for AU's general skilled migration. Aside from your experience, a lot more is assessed. But after you've been assessed and approved you'll be granted not a working or student visa but an IMMIGRANT or PR status agad. Not only nurses can go through this route. All other occupations can. But I think majority of us on this thread cannot go through that route not unless we have years of experience as an RN here in the Philippines.
Someone told me that Enrolled Nurses in AU are like LVNs or PNs in the States. Anybody out there who has more info on ENs?
Godbless us guys! Hope we can all be Aussies in the near future!
Hey Chocokat,
Maybe you should email them and see if they posted your results. =) No worries ok. I know you will get it soon.
About the EN. I think the CAS - Exam covers the EN registration as well since the booklet in the cqu website does specify that its for RN and EN. Maybe that is how they get registered?
Hi Kit25, what is a subclass 175 does that mean they are only allowed to work and never gain residency ??

I have my certificates with me but my problem is that it did not meet the requirements as stated like the signatories (chief nurse) does not have any contact numbers and email-address. Is it ok if i just passed the certificate I have right now? Is Volunteer experience really counted as work experience?
thanks~!
