New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

i have contacted Deakin U and La Trobe for their January intake. as well as the feb intake of ETEA.

good luck chabeli!

i hope i could atteng the bridging program with you...

i called NBV 2 weeks ago,

and they said my letter is still waiting for the managers signature..

tsk! tsk!

well, patience is a virtue...

i just wish it the mailman would deliver it as soon as it gets here...

Does it mean that you can apply without IELTS? and they would approve your application and advice you to take the bridging course without the IELTS result? That's interesting. :) Does NSW also allow that?

:heartbeatmmm i looked back and reread the thread.. There are nurses saying, YES they were able to successfully receive eligibility without the IELTS yet.. Of course, because it is the IELTS center, British or IDP who will send the IELTS result directly to them. As for other state, I do not know... Hope this helped!!:clown:

:yeah:Hey Congrats Chabeli!!!! I didn't know you can apply at the NBVictoria even without ielts yet... Didn't they ask for that? I moved my exam to october because I wanna make sure I'm going to have all bands in 7.. Hope I can make it... Please inform me what you did.. I want to submit my applications to NBV too... thanks

no, they didn't ask for it. even in the application checklist it's not yet included.. you will only need it once you apply for registration and for the BP. so when you get the assessment, they tell you -- you have to take the BP first and the IELTS before we can continue with your registration...

it's like telling you -- before we can forward with your application for registration: you have to complete a BP and the IELTS... but then you already have the go signal to join a BP program... and you can't enroll without the IELTS.

mich, i'm sure about NBV... and i guess, it's logical to give you a go signal to take the bridge. anyhow, you still can't enroll in bridge without the IELTS... so i suggest you apply and then if they need your IELTS

and try looking at the checklist for application too...

hi, it just simply means, that youre documents have been assessed already and that you are eligible for a registration provided that you will meet their english language requirements and the BP. your appliation for registration will be granted once you have finished a BP, but before that you must send them (nbv) a passing english test results and they(nbv) will send you an application form for BP...

How much did you pay to NBV initially?

Thank you valentine_1 for the PM. How did it go, your CAS? I think each of us receive different types of assessment, I mean the CAS differs from individual to individual, don't you think so? However we may not be able to share our individual experiences on this site because of the sensitivity of the matter just like what had happened to a certain member of this site. Have you heard that one?

Well, actually I haven't been through yet with the CAS and with all the chatter that's been going on lately, I'm having second thoughts about it. It might be worth the challenge, but with the amount of money at stake, I think it doesn't sound like worth my investment if I fail.

hi miztahcool, had the same thought as yours.it took me weeks to decide to finally push through the CAS process .i had so many "what ifs" @_@ considering the money at stake..... nwei, this thread persuaded me to fnally do it.

u might be considering the IRCON then?.. is it true that its twice as expensive?

and yes. i agree we must be mindful of what we post.. yes i"ve heard of him. and i still feel for him.:( his posts had helped me in so many ways..

:D:D

IRCON is very expensive, costs AUD5500-10000 for the tuition only.

Thank you. I fully understand now. I don't have the required scores in IELTS yet. I got 6.5 in writing and reading. I'm going to take it again on November. Hopefully I'l be able to make it. :)

I think so valentine_1 that the IRCON is more expensive than undergoing the CAS. But, in one way or another, they're both the same in terms of how we utilize our financial resources. Are you still in the Philippines or are you already in OZ? Don't answer that. Somebody might find you:wink2:

So good luck and have fun in OZ while you're at it.
