New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

^^

here it is: Nurse and Midwife's Board of South Australia.

i hope i have helped you :)

PS: as early as now, dont worry about the employer, you have to worry on how to gather the documents needed and passing an English Language exam and the BP...if youve done all of these then thats the time you will look for a prospective employer...there are things to be considered first before finding an employer ;) ;) ;)

So, I have to take the IELTS first? What's BP? How do I do it?

Hi potchy! I'm in the same boat as you are. I started not knowing anything but reading this thread taught me almost everything. Now, I'm just awaiting the results of my assessment, thanks to the very kind people in this forum.

I suggest you follow the advice of others to go through this thread from the start. It may be very, very long but you'll definitely learn a lot. Also, the site given to you by ryan will give you a lot of info. Try to read it first. It also helps if we help ourselves.

Good luck! :nurse:

Potchy, submit first your documents and other school credentials to SA board of nursing, and once they have assessed it, they will tell you what to do next. Its up to you if you take ielts first or not...BP-> Bridging Program...I strongly suggest you to read this thread, and read the SA's website...

by the way my fellow nurses, Ramsay Health Care just emailed me today, and they told me that IRON conducted by the facility have been closed until further notice...

does ramsay health care require any yrs of experience?

i've already passed the ielts so im looking for education providers to enroll in...

i heard that there are some who do require and others who don't...

hey gast, do you have your NBV letter already? If you are looking for BP providers in victoria. these are the schools that are currently offering them:

Deakin university -- next available intake May 2010 --Jan intake is closed

ETEA --next intake is FEb 2010 but have few slots left

La Trobe -- they still accept application but they said to do it ASAP; they did not specify end date for their application

University of BAllarat -- you may visit the school website as they prefer to have an agent and not transact directly with the student from outside Australia

There are some on the list of NBV but when I contacted them, they do not offer the course anymore...

hi, University of Ballarat is very far from the civilization, i tell you...:D

Latrobe's location would be the best....did you guys enquire at VCHN?

Specializes in Aged Care.

Hi guys! Is there anyone here who submitted their documents (with IELTS) around the second week of June and have received their assessments already (favorable or not)? I am really really anxious because till now I have yet to hear from QNC. Submitted mine last June 16 and my IELTS a week after that. Its been exactly three months! I'd even welcome a letter from them requiring more documents! Just as long as its from QNC! :banghead:

I'm sorry guys, just venting out here... :bluecry1:. I am really worried. Do you guys think it's okay for me to follow-up via email?

gast, ramsay health do require some experience but i believe they also accept volunteer work, you can email them for specific infos but as posted earlier, they cancelled the november bridging program, they are not sure when to accept students again.

chocokat, you can email QNC, just type "Specific Enquiry" as the subject to your email.
