New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Specializes in OR/DR/RR, Surgical Unit.

yvienne, what does LEON stands for?

Hi dudzy...

What visa do I need to apply if my BP provider is LaTrobe and its CRICOS registered? The course is 13 weeks...(Less than 3 months, Jan.4-April 2) Can I apply for 456 instead of 575 (Non-Award)?..or should really apply for the 575?

Thanks for all the info...

hey farah,

i know you can apply for a student visa if it's cricos registered. the 456 costs lesser than the student visa. Try checking with DIAC again and use the Visa wizard :)

:typing Hello guys.. I usually check this site whenever I have questions about nursing jobs and finally I decided to work in Australia.. Like most of you I am a registered nurse with NO experience yet.. And like some people here, I am a second courser. I've been following aelith and dudzky's posts. I am learning a lot... Chabelit are you going to Victoria as well? I intend to register at Victoria.. But I am really confused.. What shall I send them first???

According to aelith, I should send them: .

  • Evidence of Identity (true copy of Passport or Birth Certificate)
  • Certified true copy of Transcript
  • Certified true copy of Diploma
  • Certificate of initial registration
  • Verification of Registration (As far as I know, you will need to go to PRC and ask them to send Nurses Board of Victoria the said certification)

  • Work Statement (if applicable)

However, I couldn't open the pdf file she posted.. is it the APPLICATION FOR INITIAL REGISTRATION in http://www.nbv.org.au/web/guest/overseas-nurse-initialreg-requirements ? and how much bank draft will I enclose?

Also, can I ask ETEA for an application form now so I can prepare the things I will be needing to enrol in their institution?

I don't know anyone in Melbourne. I hope you can also tell me if you know a place to rent near the institution... thanks guys.. hope I'll have same luck as yours!!!!:redbeathe

You can attend the free seminar that was conducted in their office located at greenhills san juan, You can look for their adress;ANSM consultancy just google it. I think it is more easy compared to CAS program and it only takes 13 weeks to be licensed.

..yet will cost a million ?

rebekah, visit the nurses board of victoria website, you will find all the information and forms there:

http://www.nbv.org.au/web/guest/home

send all the documents together with the payment (credit card payment will do) except for the document from PRC and IELTS result.

For ETEA, visit their website and check the category NURSING.

http://www.etea.edu.au/

hope this helps =)

 Great thanks! Yes it is helpful... Although, I a contemplating if Victoria is the right place or NSW.. I've read one person in this thread who posted that she lives in melbourne but the need for NURSES are in Queensland, NSW, Western Australia... Do you think the need for nurses in Melbourne is low????

Hi Chabeli. Congratulations!!! I'm glad that you finally got your assessment. When did you submitted your initial application? Goodluck to your IELTS. :wink2:

Hi Izay,

I submitted my amended application last June 12. then the NBV letter came in July 20, but it took so long for the local post office to deliver to our house...
