Hi everyone, please help me.
I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.
Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.
That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.
However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.
I already have my bachelors degree here.
When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?
After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?
Thank you!
hey aelith and all....the latest media release i read from the NBV is about its resignation as a member of the ANMC... well, it was a long explanation... but they made it clear though that the current applications/operations of the NBV is not affected...
with this move, im not pretty sure what the impacts are...but isn't the ANMC the regulating body for the whole of australia? what could be the impact?
thanks for that update chabeli...do you mind if I ask the webpage of that news?--I can't seem to find that one in their website..
it's on the left side of the homepage under NEWS...it's the first article to it , lol... let me see if the link works... gosh ...that's a long link...in case, it's in the nbv website and then the one that reads Information for Nurses and Midwives in Victoria.
thanks nykhouston and sashi! I called PRC this afternoon. My surname starts with N and she said that mine is probably available already as I told them I'm a June 08 passer. Will check tomorrow...To unadunad: Nykhouston told me that it's like a diploma and that some dentists and doctors sometimes hang theirs on their walls. I too at first thought that it's just the license. Good thing I asked nyk and he clarified it to me. When will you get yours? Will you also ask them to sign the verification of good standing (the form from QNC that they require PRC to send them) the same day that you get your certificate of registration?
What do you guys think? should I ask PRC to sign the verification and pay them for the courier service even before I submit my application form and credentials to QNC?
hi chocokat... if the difference is about a week or 2 i guess it's fine... then just email them that it was sent ahead of your app forms and other documents... when i lodged mine, although, it was in Victoria, they confirmed receipt of the PRC verification and said that they are waiting for my app form which i sent about a week after.

As far as I know, ANMC is mainly for migration purposes and not really for registration of Nurses. However, they do provide the standards of practise across Australia. If I understood it correctly, ANMC wants to be the accrediting body for the whole of Australia which NBV does not support that's why they resigned.
And this is by the way the link to the news:

thanks chabeli! I went to PRC this morning and i left my verification form to be processed. i'll be going there again on tuesday to pay for the courier service. that's just about the same time that i think i'll send my documents to QNC. now i just have to find a notary public who has the stamp that states what QNC is asking for.
do you guys really think that certified true copy of the original document is not enough? does it really has to say i have sighted the original document....? and i think i'll just be sending my original transcript. it has 4 pages (2 transcripts, 2nd courser). i'll just probably attach a note or something that says i have lots of originals, or that i have requested that transcript specifically for them. i really did by the way.
ok guys, thanks again for all the advice! just keep those ideas/suggestions coming hehehe
thank you...I was just thinking of the possible implication to anmc assessment for migration of NBV brdiging course graduate...but i think NBv registration is enough for migration application in another pathway though...
Ahh.. you mean the temporary visas? Registration is okay for a 457 Visa but if it's migration via GSM (General Skilled Migration) route, then you would really be assessed by ANMC unless you are going to permanently migrate thru family visas.
