New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi guys, I'm planning on submitting my application soon. The following are the things I'm including in the envelope, hope im not missing anything..Please inform me if i am! :D

-completed application form

-birth certificate

-diploma

-PRC certificate

-TOR and RLE form (the checklist says the commencement and completion date of the course, name of course and details of course content, number of hours of theoretical instruction and clinical practice, signature and official stamp from the relevant course provider are needed. does the TOR/RLE tandem satisfy all these?)

-bank draft of 158AUD payable to Queensland Nursing Council

I'm still clueless about the statutory declaration. Exactly how do i do this part? Is there an extra form for this? Btw, i have no post-registration experience, is there any extra step to take/form to include in connection with this (aside from indicating this fact on item 6).

Also, for the language in which the course was conducted (item 7), I'll put English, right?

I've taken my IELTS already, is it ok for me to slip my certificate along with the other documents, or should i wait for QNC's cue to send it?

Lastly, all of these documents need to be photocopied and notarized with the details of the lawyer, yeah?

Sorry for the trivial questions guys, just wanna be sure coz I'd like my application to go as hassle-free as possible. My heartfelt gratitude to everyone!!!

Hi luna538!

The only thing missing in my application is my PRC certificate. Its nice that you posted this because the questions that you asked are the same things thats bothering me..

With regards to the bankdraft, from what bank did you draw it? Btw, has anyone here paid using credit card?

If you can pm me your email add I can forward to you the statutory declaration form that punjabi sent me..

Lots o' luck!

Oops! with regards to application form Item 6- Competence declaration, there's a note below it that says (Complete this if you are applying for restoration of your license). We are not restoring but applying.. so should we tick the appropriate box for us or should we just leave it blank?

Maybe the draft is from ANZ bank. Most I think used their credit cards in paying. Local banks like BDO do not issue bank drafts in AUD. The only available drafts are in USD.

For those paying using "bank draft", inquire with ANZ or Standard Chartered Bank if they could issue a bank draft in AUD.. as mentioned earlier, local banks will issue in USD only..

Fyi: the 1st portion of the legislation of "national registration" in Australia was already passed by the Queensland Parliament in November 2008... The 2nd portion of the law is aimed to be presented to the Queensland Parliament in July 2009...

The target date of national registration is (as mentioned in the previous pages) in July 2010.. But however datapwat, a state's parliament may pass transitory provisions/policies relative to the July 2010 deadline, like perhaps setting new qualifications consistent with the national registration..

The new board members of the national registration will start holding office in July 2009.. They are still hiring now for board members, wanna apply?

...time flies fast... the bomb is ticking... lets do it as soon as possible..

fyi2: watch out for the new US administration, the National Security Agency has opined that the shortage of nurses is considered a national security threat (e.g. in case of epidemics, needs more nurses, etc.).. in effect, it may further hastened the visa processing, which means i may become a sage in 2 years.. yes!!... that info is from a news article of Phil. Inquirer...

best wishes to all..

Hi vipamarie, I dont have the bank draft yet. Xysy25 mentioned local banks like bdo don't issue AUD bank drafts. Too bad coz that's exactly the bank i had in mind since I went there when I needed the draft for my NCLEX:(. How about you? How do you plan to go about the payment? Any suggestions from the rest? Thanks a lot!!!:):D

you can go to ANZ bank Luna. IDP told me that they can give you a bank draft in AUD even if you do not have an account with them. They are located in Makati but I don't know the exact address.

Hiya! I think I'll use credit card.. I have no choice I guess.. there are no banks here in our province that are issuing AUD bank drafts..

just an update from the qnc website:

applicants should note the following:

  • an additional application processing charge applies to all applications for overseas qualifications to be assessed - refer to the schedule of fees and charges checklist for more information
  • credit card is the preferred method of payment for all overseas applicants
  • each application is assessed on an individual basis
  • it is not possible to state in advance if your application will be accepted
  • assessment of your application will be delayed if you do not complete the application form correctly, all relevant documentation is not supplied, or correct fee is not included.

they also have a statutory declaration form in there now. :)

Hi Aelith or anyone who has an idea..

If you have already passed all the required modules, how long does approval, medical and visa processing usually take before you can fly to Australia? What is the usual time range for the processing and preparation?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for that, xysy25! :D Makati sounds perfect, I'm here most of the time. I googled the address online, in case anyone else might also need the information, here it is:smokin::

ANZ Philippines

23/F GT Tower International

6813 Ayala Avenue corner HV Dela Costa Street

Makati City, Philippines

I don't have a credit card of my own yet. I can borrow, but I prefer doing things independently if I have the means anyway, hehe:p. Except if paying via bank draft would badly hurt my application (in terms of speed, i guess?)...would it?

Thanks again for all the help, guys! Godbless us all! :D

No problem for you then! Go right ahead, sister! Goodluck and keep us posted!:heartbeat:D
