niet nursing program 18 month program i think not!!!!!! most students that i have seen there either don't make it through the program or have had to repeat one or more quarter if they make it through at all. so when you look at the initial cost of $50000 but then add in one or two more quarters you are now spending $60000-$70000 for an adn. so they say they have a 100% pass rate but ask them how many students started in the program. most class sizes start at 25 as for the first graduating class they had 7. when i was a student there my classes started with 25 added 5 through the quarters and are now down to 5 students left. not to mention the quarters above and below me are in the same boat!!!! people that is 20% of the students that start there so unless you think you can be part of that 20% by all means..............not to mention the program director does not like anyone who is a cna, emt, lpn or of the male gender she will make sure that you don't pass her program..... not to mention if you go against the program director to get a problem resolved she will hunt you down and make sure you don't pass her program. plus, if you have a job and or a family the program director is not flexible at all she, believe you should be doing nothing but school and will make your schedule so that you can even have a job. and unless you have someone to take care of you kids 24/7 for the next two years this school is not parent friendly. plus each quarter you have to take and pass a dosage calculation exam(most schools have this class as a part of the program or as a prerequisit) which this school does not teach you what you need in order to pass the test each quarter with a 100%. not to mention they also claim they have all sorts of extra help say in the math lab ya right all the people there don't even know how to do that kind of math. but let not fail to recongnize they offer depending on how much $$$$$ they need that quarter they may let you take the math test three time or four just keeping you on the hook long enough for them to charge you for the entire quarter!!!!!!!!

this place is nothing but a big$$$$$$$$ money pit!!!!!had i know then what i know now i would have gone elsewhere!!!! buyer beware!!!!!!!!:down::down:

I'm in the process of completing the 2 entrance exams at NEIT to hopefully start in October'12. Do you have any recommendations on taking the Kaplan? How has your experience been with the nursing program?

there is no easy road to become a registered nurse. it's hard work from the start to the finish, to include all those core and pre-req classes. if you find yourself tempted to take the neit nursing program because they promise no waiting list and a rn degree in 18 months, think about it hard. i fell into this trap, thinking i could take the easy path to a nursing degree. luckily, i only lost two semesters of time and money, whereas i know people who came in with me and are still there being pushed back and raped of additional money. they are now far too vested, with time and money to get out and run for their lives. i know a girl right now who, yet again, has been withdrawn from her current classes and must wait for the next class to continue. she would like to find another legitimate school and salvage her nursing dreams, however, she owes several-thousand dollars in tuition costs and cannot get her official transcript. they refuse to give it to her until she squares away her debt. even if she could get her transcript, i seriously doubt the credits she has paid so dearly for from neit will be of any use in another nursing program. so, she is stuck, having to continue through the neit gauntlet. there is new england tech, and then there is new england tech nursing program. think of the nursing program as a virus, living inside the host cell (new england tech) an entity within an entity. the virus has taken over and does its business autonomously, without regard to the long standing rules and protocol of the host cell. the nursing program is herding countless prospective nursing students to its doors, feeding money into the insatiable school coffers. the nursing program is the goose laying golden eggs, and because of this, the school administrators turn their heads and ignore what really goes on within the neit nursing program. there is a class right now which started off with 30 students, and now is down to 4 students! should these students graduate and pass the nclex, neit will boast a 100% pass rate. really? these numbers are fine with neit. as long as the front end keeps pulling in prospective students, it does not matter who makes it out at the back end. like a pyramid scheme, it's all in numbers and there is no end to the desperate unsuspecting applicants to the program. what makes this program so bad? they do in fact have state of the art technology with their sim labs and such. the new school facility is fantastic and fresh. like a gorgeous, decorated christmas tree, with all the lights, bells and whistles, however, deep within, at the core is a rotten tree with decaying branches. the chair person is as unprofessional as they come. she is without restraint and will do whatever she pleases. she has been known to hunt down the author of unfavorable course critiques. if you seek resolution outside of the nursing program, you are doomed. she will turn on you, and get her loyal staff (henchmen) to make your life as miserable as can be. not all the nursing staff are evil i must say. there are definitely those who are under the chair's spell. the outside resources, although empathetic to your grievances, do nothing to protect you. you are fed back to the nursing program to fend for yourself. the lady who chairs this program is truly out of control. if you can have a little patience and get into one of rhode island's well established nursing schools you will be so much better off. better off financially, and educationally. if you don't have the patience and must go into neit nursing program, good luck, you will soon learn patience and learn it painfully so. more to follow........ neit, neit nursing program, new england tech 11x11progress.gif
i have heard this as well and it doesn't surprise me. i guess there will always be suckers in this world and those who love to take advantage of them.

Can I get a recent update on NEIT RN program? I'm from MA and not real familiar with the school but was researching it for the Oct '12 class. Some of these posts are from 2 years ago so I'm hoping they've worked out their hiccups by now? Anyone a recent student or graduate? Thanks.

I am a student at NEIT for the Nursing program. All of the negitive comments on here must be from people who failed or just couldn't handle it anymore. The program is STRICT!!!! You need a 78 in all classes to pass and the classes are taught at a fast pace with a lot of information. All Nursing tests are made to be just like the NCLEX to prepare you better for when you take the actual NCLEX. If your late 2 minutes to class when there's a test or a report due, you get a zero. If you get below a 78 in any two classes then your dropped from the program and you have to go somewhere else. I study for at least 10 hours a week (not including mid-terms and finals which are much longer studying times). The program is outstanding!!!! It weeds out people who cant hack it by it's strict grading system and rules. However, if you graduate from the program you can be rest assured that you will know your stuff better than graduates of other schools. The classes start at 25 people but usually graduate 9-12 people because of the failure rate and people who drop out in the middle of the sessions. A couple of the comments on here are right though, like "NEIT nursing is it's own thing completely different than NEIT." NEIT Nursing has it's own standards, rules, policies, and procedures. I'm not trying to convince anyone to go to NEIT Nursing if they dont want to. There is one school that a lot of people on here keep on talking about like it's the best thing since sliced bread (I wont mention the schools name), yet they have the LOWEST NCLEX PASS RATE IN THE STATE! Oh, and no where does it say you will graduate the Nursing program in 18 months, it's 22 months.

Oh, and I'm also a male student. So that throws a wrench into a comment that someone made earlier about the program and how they don't like male students.

Hello yanks82! It's a bit confusing, if your posts are a positive or negative prospective on neit. Given the price tag on an RN associates degree from neit, +50K, not so sure your post does any justice insofar as marketing. Over fifty thousand dollars to be subjugated to such strict rules, really? Two mins late you get a big fat zero, spending all that time and money only to be "weeded out", in your words, seriously? So, according to you, in order to be the best nursing graduate in Rhode Island, one must pay $50K +, endure strict, unreasonable rules, and not be targeted as one to be "weeded out"? Not so enticing yanks. It seems your statistics are eschew as well; Pass rates for NCLEX are going to be higher when only 5-12 students are being tested. I've said that neit nursing program has potential, and in fact, they have made significant personnel changes recently which should be positive change. No denying there has been some really bad problems in the program. And as you know yank82; a former high ranking nursing admin person was actually escorted by security out of classroom, off campus. What's up with that? Looks like "weeding out", goes both ways! Your alligence to your school is admirable, but your post is telling, and makes the neit nursing program a scary, expensive gamble.

I can feel sorry for people that put money and time into this. NEIT is very practiced at suckering in people- they've been doing it for decades. Absolutely despicable how they take advantage of people.

I am an NEIT nursing grad... We have all been very well received within the nursing community, have all gotten good jobs, and all given a great name to the program. I have had coworkers say they will vouch for an NEIT grad anytime after working with only a few. I don't know if the new changes there will be for the better, but I do know I worked my ass off in that program and it worked it's ass off for me. Most of my patients don't even realize I am a new grad nurse, neither do some of my co-workers whom are seasoned nurses. The program, and namely a few professors that have since left the college, couldn't have prepared me better to go out into the workforce confidently and adequately prepared. Does the college's philosophy suck overall as far as how they reign in students, it sure does. Is it pretty damn expensive, yep. BUT, being a pioneer of sorts for a new program and seeing the feedback from my now fellow nurses is AMAZING. I am proud of my accomplishments there, and I am proud of the roots of this program. I just hope that these changes don't destroy what could have been an amazing program going through the years.

I wish the best of luck to EVERYONE pursueing nursing. It is a beautiful field where you can actually make a difference in the lives of people in their weakest and most vulnerable moments. Don't let all the pettiness of nursing school politics start you off in this field of genuine caring with an axe to grind or an attitude of entitlement, it's not worth it. Work on being a sponge for all that you can learn and really inspect the work you will be doing. If you always want someone to blame, point a finger at, or put down. Pursue law school. Or get a reality show, just don't come by my bedside please...

I went summer before last, and found it over whleming working full time. 2 weeks in I had surgery had to drop out. I am back at ccri. I am a LPN so getting in the program at ccri is faster.I have all a's at ccri with one c I got in a summer anatomy class I am retaking.(yep they are right dont take it in the summer). Due to health reasons in 2 weeks I was struggling there...and never had issues before.

There is no flexability in classes you take them when offered when I was there, so working nights was an issue with me as I could not get to 8 am classes from work.If you arnt working, dont have kids, or a life, and can give all your time to the program it is a great program.

My other beef....once you attend one class and drop you are responsible for the entire semesters bill.I have over 5 grand owed for a semester I went for 2 weeks.

again I think it is a great program to get it done fast, but you have to go full time and no flexability in class times.

I did my LPN in a nother state set up the same way and knew how it would go jsut sudden surgry blew it for me.

Minorities....I do not think this is an issue, classes are smaller so less people but there were a varried selection of people in my class.

If you go I have books from that semester email me and I will gladly share. they might be an older eddition.
