New England Tech in Warwick, RI

I was wondering if anyone had any information about this school. Their program is fairly new and not accredited as of yet. So, im kinda skeptical about this program. It would be nice if someone could respond to this that is in the program.

I went to this school for my Surgical Technology degree..someone told me that they're starting an RN program, is this what you're referring to?

I loved being a surgical tech, but I was way overcharged by this school. I paid $24,000 for an Associate's degree when Surg techs were making $10.00 an hour to start:down:...I paid $6400 for my RN at CCRI and that was with books and uniforms figured in...if this is an RN program you're looking at, go with CCRI instead. If you want your BSN, go to RIC or URI. Guaranteed you'll pay less and probably get a better education..

UPDATE: I just looked this up because I was curious..it's an Associate's in Nursing. I know people who just graduated from NEIT and they were paying $35,000 for their programs. OP, there is no reason to pay that kind of money for an ASN...I think they're banking on those who are fed up with wait lists and such. CCRI, St Josephs School of Nursing, RIC, URI...all these schools have been around a long time, and this NEIT program isn't accredited yet...if i were to pay that kind of money, I'd want my education to be top notch and I don't this program will be, at least not right away.

I have been thinking of going to this program. I know I am going to pay a lot more but I don't have to wait to get into the program. I am a Mom to a 20 month old and just want to take 2 years to go to school and better myself. I been working as an aid in a nursing home for 6 years, many of the girls i work with are in school to be nurses and are and have been on the waiting list to get into the program. I just don't want to waste that time. So i don't know if it is a good choice or not but I think i may try.

I know waiting can be hard but trust me, you'll feel far worse if you waste $35,000+ on a program that isn't even accredited yet..what if it comes time to take your boards and you and your classmates have problems passing? Or they never get the acrreditation? What if you ever want to go back and get your BSN and they won't take your credits(some people have trouble getting NEIT credits approved)? Also, if you go to NEIT and flunk out..I believe you still have to pay for the bulk of the program(they could have changed this)

And it's not wasted time, while I was on the waiting list, I took all the other needed classes so I could just focus on the nursing ones when I got in. And RIC and URI don't have wait list, I believe. Those are BSN degrees and they're probably still cheaper than NEIT.

SquirrelRN71 the more i look on this subject the more i see it may not pay to pay to get in. I think you are totally right it is kind of stupid to pay that much for what I have looked up a horrible school. I think i just going to enroll in a community college in my local area. The money I would have wasted would have been so much that I could go get my Master lol .Thanks again.

Well NET is not a horrible school, but it is expensive. I would place bets that they will be accredited once they graduate their people.

NO new nursing program is accredited until the first students are about to graduate. Also, NO nursing program can start unless it has provisional approval from the accrediting agency to start, which New England Tech has gotten.

This may be true..but they are still way too expensive. There is just no need to pay that kind of money, when there are nursing schools in the state with a proven track record of educating nurses that don't charge nearly as much. This program looks like they are trying to take advantage of the fact that there are those desperate to get started right away, and this is sickening to me. I graduated from this school,(for surg technology) and I have to wonder how challenging this program is going to be...it was like a continuation of high school when I was there.

For those who don't know, CCRI used to be waitlist, I believe they are going to performance based admissions, which is how it should be, IMO. Your nursing education is the foundation for hopefully, a great career. Don't let it be a shaky, overpriced one.

Its good to know all the inputs from other folks. This program is about 50,000 for the 21 month program and 42,000 for the 15 month program. From what i understand, those numbers spell RIP-OFF!!! Im thinking about going to CCRI now since it only cost about 7 to 8 grand for the whole program...

I was at URI, and could not get into the program, 750 people are denied for it every year and put on a wait list. I just went through the process and testing for NEIT Nursing program. I am enrolled in it, for March. I believe it will be a success, because actually the two women who are running the program came from URI. They were nursing teachers at URI for quite some time.

OMG..that's disgusting that they are charging that much, simply horrible. It sounds like I was right...they are capitalizing on the desperate..not good for anyone, the students, and ultimately, patients.

i can understand everyone's concern for the program because of cost and accredidation and with that being said i have no doubt that the school will become accredited, as for cost, yes it is expensive but what private school isnt? it comes out to about 25000 a year which unless you go to a public/state school you going to be looking at the same price. when you take into account the EXTREME difficulty of getting into nursing schools now a days the price is worth it especially with the amount you make once you become an RN. If you have the grades and are a top notch student i would encourage going somewhere cheaper a 1oo% cause you have a good shot but not everyone is top notch adn they are very selective. I was at RIC last year as a transfer and unless i got probably in the range of a 3.2 or better i know i wont be considered. new england tech's nursing program was a godsend and i was accepted yesterday into the program and i could not be happier, i start nursing school next month. and one more thing i dont think anyone should bash the program because truthfully no one knows anything about it yet because its soo new, there is no way a judgement can be passed that it is not the best education, i am sure i will graduate with a great education
