Congrats everyone on starting at NEIT!! I graduated from that program in March, and I can tell you I have gotten great feed-back from my colleagues about the education that I received! This program really sets you up for success if you work it, it can get INTENSE but so is nursing so it's a good lead in. Good luck!!

Well, it sure beats lateral violence...

I am an NEIT nursing grad... We have all been very well received within the nursing community, have all gotten good jobs, and all given a great name to the program. I have had coworkers say they will vouch for an NEIT grad anytime after working with only a few. I don't know if the new changes there will be for the better, but I do know I worked my ass off in that program and it worked it's ass off for me. Most of my patients don't even realize I am a new grad nurse, neither do some of my co-workers whom are seasoned nurses. The program, and namely a few professors that have since left the college, couldn't have prepared me better to go out into the workforce confidently and adequately prepared. Does the college's philosophy suck overall as far as how they reign in students, it sure does. Is it pretty damn expensive, yep. BUT, being a pioneer of sorts for a new program and seeing the feedback from my now fellow nurses is AMAZING. I am proud of my accomplishments there, and I am proud of the roots of this program. I just hope that these changes don't destroy what could have been an amazing program going through the years. I wish the best of luck to EVERYONE pursueing nursing. It is a beautiful field where you can actually make a difference in the lives of people in their weakest and most vulnerable moments. Don't let all the pettiness of nursing school politics start you off in this field of genuine caring with an axe to grind or an attitude of entitlement, it's not worth it. Work on being a sponge for all that you can learn and really inspect the work you will be doing. If you always want someone to blame, point a finger at, or put down. Pursue law school. Or get a reality show, just don't come by my bedside please...

Well.. I too am sorry if anything said was offensive. I'm only posting to defend my program. I do not feel that anything about our educators are corrupt. I have gotten to know them all over my time at NEIT, they are all just people. Good people, whom work 24-7 to get this program to a reputable place in our community. No small feat since no one has tried to begin a new nursing program in RI for over 40 years! The program hasn't been around long enough to properly display its true colors but I'm sure once our grads, including myself, get out into the workforce our program will be far more favorably recognized. I'm sorry your experience at NEIT was a negative one as mine has not at all been. I wish you luck in all of your future endeavors :)

I am currently an NEIT nursing student and I am astounded at the negativity on these boards!! I am VERY proud of this program and of everyone in it. Yes, it costs more and though I obviously wish it were less expensive I feel I have received an extremely thorough education. We have access to amazing resources, our professors mentor us with every chance they get, and everything about this program is done so that we can succeed. I have busted my butt in this program and will be graduating in March after 21 months of intense schooling and I refuse to be judged due to those who enrolled and are no longer in the program. Yes, we lose some students- but no more than the overall average from any nursing program. It seems more due to our smaller class size in the beginning of the program, but the percentage is average. Nursing school is hard because it is supposed to be hard and no one expects to "get through", if you do expect that go back to your job at Burger King and move on. All I'm saying is that I have loved my time at NEIT and I am forever proud to be instrumental in fine tuning this program. It is easy to go online and whine about how unfair or hard something may be, it is an even harder thing to look at the bigger picture and realize that everything is done so for a reason. The problem with any program isn't necessarily the program or instructors but the students that refuse to admit that it might be them.. I wish nothing but the best to all future nurses out there because we all get into this field to do good for others and care for the sick, it flat out sucks how much negative bull we have to wade through to get there. Everyone needs to be less miserable and judgemental of everyone else and focus more on what we all want to be.. Compassionate caregivers.

Yes!! Right?! Why be there if you aren't able to give 110%?! Some of my classmates are just hoping to pass, which a 77 in every single class. A few already have had to repeat classes, we are only going into our second quarter. Many don't have a full time job to worry about, or a family, or any responsibilities really other than school. NO EXCUSE for struggling to pass! You are either not dedicated enough or not able to hack it at this point in your life. What I tell everyone to keep in mind is that our jobs WILL hold lives in the balance, literally, would you want a nurse that just squeaked by in school caring for you?? I want to be able to treat my patients knowing that I gave all I had to make sure I was a competant, knowledgeable nurse. Keep up the good work!!

Way to go everyone!! Impressive, all very deserving of the good ol' pat on the back :) I would also like to brag a bit... finished Quarter one of my program on top of almost all of my fellow students, capped it off with a 3.93 GPA. With many of my classmates scraping by to pass let alone succeed, it is with great pride that I say "I am awesome!!" On to bigger and better, and harder, things next week when quarter 2 begins!! Can't wait!

I am currently enrolled in the NEIT ASN program and so far I am very VERY happy with the program. Yes, it is expensive but the college does very well with scholarships and financial aid. It is fast pased and very demanding. Best part is I will be done and out into the workforce in under 2 years. As a returning adult student, it is hard to consider a traditional program-- far too long of a wait list. Yes it is cheaper but you are investing 5 years, or longer, in a degree you could get in 2 at NEIT. All of my professors are fabulous, the student support services are incredible, and the course curriculum is truely demanding-- no shortcuts. Overall I am THRILLED to be a part of this new and exciting program and I encourage anyone whos is considering enrolled to do so.

I begin NS a week from tomorrow. So very excited, and scared, and nervous, and anxious, and ....... But I will be taking a prereq Math, A and P lecture and lab, Intro to Nursing, Intro to Comp Software. Can I just say that I am most apprehensive about taking the Comp Software class?? Everything else seems like it will come to me pretty easily but this computer nonsense, it's greek to me lol! My program is in 10 wk quarters with 1 week off in between so the classes are excelerated and intense! Can't wait! I must be a glutton for punishment doing this to myself, but since I can run for crap this NS business is like my 50k marathon or something. Best of luck to you!!:hdvwl:

Make it through, some of them I'm not even sure how they drove their car to get to class in the first place!! LOL! I knew some of them were in trouble when getting their parking pass for school through them for a loop, good luck with dosage calc my friends-- and no I do not want to ever be your patient!

I agree with the notecard method. I need to take stock out in notecards myself lol! I go through alot of them :)

I know what you are going through! But don't get too ahead of yourself, it just makes everything you are scared of even worse. Believe me! I am beginning NS next week, and working full time, and raising a family. After I registered for classes on Tuesday I had a full on panic attack, crying fit, you name it.. it wasn't pretty! But I'm letting myself have just one of those-- now it is eyes on the prize. Yes, it is going to be hard. Yes, it is going to be intense. And at times we will question why the hell we got into this anyway, but I think all college students go through that regardless of what they are studying. Just take it one day, one class, and one assignment at a time, and before you know it you will be done and have done well because you didn't let your anxiety run away with your better judgement. I hear all of you that just want to live a normal quality of life after NS. My post school "splurge" is going to be paying my bills on time and getting a good nights sleep knowing that no one is after me for money anymore! The thought of it is better than a Disney vacation! Not like that will be out of the question

Hey everyone! I am new to this site, I will be beginning an associates degree RN program at New England Tech on July 19th. I couldn't be more excited! I have been wanting for this for years now, and I'm finally making the jump! I have been a highly skilled Vet Technician for almost 10 years and I feel like this is just a natural transition for me as I love patient care and dealing with families, and the medical field just makes sense to me. I am hoping to get some other new students, especially new student moms :), to give me their insight on what the coming years will be like. I would love to have others to share my excitement (and nervousness) with! I am a mommy to 2 year old Liam, a full time Vet Tech, full time Nursing Student, I've got alot on my plate. What about yours?! Lets compare notes :)

I will be starting the Nursing program at NEIT in July 2010, 3 more weeks! I have to say I can't wait! Yes, it is an expensive education but it is a state of the art program that I am hopeful will change nursing programs in RI all together. I absolutely cannot wait to start, I like hearing from those of you who are already in the program and are loving it! So far my experience with NEIT has been nothing but wonderful. Everyone in admissions have been extremely helpful and supportive. I am a 27 year old married mommy of a 2 year old boy, I will be working full time at least during my first 1-2 quarters, I didn't think I could swing going back to school but Keri in admissions was WONDERFUL and really made me feel empowered to FINALLY go to get my RN which is what I have to desperately wanted to do! I look forward to beginning my adventure to my RN, hope to hear from more students that will be starting in July also!
