At my school it is required that I take and pass the Net Entrance Exam.
Now, while I am aware that there is a study guide for this test, I'm not sure whether it is really needed. I mean, if I don't need to buy it I would rather not.
I was wondering if anyone else has to take this test and how beneficial a study guide would be?

At my school we'll have to take it on the first day of our orientation & I understand they use it to show them who may have trouble learning. I bought a study guide & took a few of the sample tests. It was nothing more than the type of standardized tests given in high school. If you are reasonably intelligent, you probably won't need it.

I would say, get it! The study guide is exactly like the test. I think it is a good investment.
You might have trouble locating it, though. Most bookstores sell out of it fast. I got mine from the publisher at: http://www.eriworld.com I think the cost was around $30.
If your school is like mine, you only get so many shots at passing the NET. I don't think I would have done as well as I did without it.
Good luck!

I would have to say save your money, visit your local library and ask them for the Nursing Entrance Exam study books. That's what I did. My library had 3 books that I used and they helped immensely.:wink2:

I'd say get it, especially if you haven't taken math in a while. I am TERRIBLE in math and the study guide helped me get a 100% on the math part of the test. Helpful for the reading also. Think of it as an insurance policy. Good luck!

Most of the people on this earth are reasonably intelligent. But if that is so then why are there those who take the test and do not pass it the first time around? I mean if it really is so easy than people should be able to pass it on the first try.
At my school, it is required for admission that this test is taken and passed within two tries and all before applying to the nursing school.

I would say it depends on your strengths and weakness. I did buy the study guide and found it really helped me with the reading sections. Though I love to read in my spare time, it is not always easy to pick out main ideas etc if you are not used to reading analytically. I found the math section in the guide was way more in depth than what was actually on the test. All the study guide did here was scare me!! The math section on my test was way easier and concentrated mostly on basic math concepts. The study guide had me doing high level algebra and trig with a ton of word problems--none of which was on my version of the NET test. Anyway, best of luck to you on the test!!

If your reading and English skills are fairly strong, and you can do more than basic math, you should be fine....English/reading comp have always been strengths of mine, but I struggle mightily with more than VERY basic, everyday math skills....
I got out an intermediate math book I had kept around and a study guide I had on hand from when I was in school....I aced the test....
But if you lack in any of these areas, some type of study guide/review might be helpful...it is a lot of money to think about laying out if you're on a budget of any type!!
Best wishes!!

A agree that it's worth it to get the book. I took the entrance exam and though I could've passed without it, in my opinion it helped me to get a higher score. At our school you can check the book out at the library. Definitely worth looking over!
