  1. Hi Catzy5, That's alot of pressure; knowing you have to make a straight 4.0-it's tough! Here in Alaska they factor in pre-req's and the nurse entrance exam score with GPA, so that does help some. I wish you luck in getting accepted, and with AP1 and 2. Do you have a good intructor? That makes all the difference, I think. I've been looking through the posts to find all the links to AP websites. I'm putting them in my favorites for the semester 'cause I have a feeling they'll be my best friends LOL. I agree that it is a relief to be learning stuff that pertain more to nursing. I'm curious though, about how much of this we'll really use. I can hardly wait to get into the actual nursing classes. For me, that's when all of this effort will pay off, I'll just feel more like I'm getting somewhere :wink2: what do you all have to dissect this semester? We have a frog, cow eyeball, and sheep brains. I've never had to dissect anything, ever. 'Ought to be interesting. I have aquarium frogs and really like 'em so I could do without the whole frog thing. lol
  2. Hello and welcome! I'm 36 years old and have been in school for a little over a year now. Like you, I was very nervous, but excited at the thought of going back to scool. I'm sure you'll do great as you settle into a schedule and get used to being in classes again. Good luck )
  3. A agree that it's worth it to get the book. I took the entrance exam and though I could've passed without it, in my opinion it helped me to get a higher score. At our school you can check the book out at the library. Definitely worth looking over!
  4. flashcards are the most helpful for me. We have to do coloring book assignments too, but for me personally, they're not very helpful in my understanding or retention of the material. (they can be fun though-like being a kid again lol). Another thing I find really helps out: interacive websites. I love short movies or simulations that you can find on some websites.
  5. From my experience, it does get easier after awhile. I'm 36 and found it difficult to find a schedule that worked well for me. Aside from that, I wasn't used to having to memorize and learn things in a school setting. Maybe my brain wasn't asleep, but it was definitely on vacation from the whole learning experience LOL. It'll get easier, hang in there and let us know how you're doing! :wink2:
  6. I took Chemistry a couple of semesters ago. This semester I'm taking AP and to me this is way harder. The memorizing part is difficult, but just understanding the material is even harder. Flash cards is what I find most helpful in memorizing, but when it comes to really understanding the concepts, I love interactive websites. I'm a distant ed student so being able to 'see' what I read and hear during teleconference makes all the difference. Good luck with class )
  7. Hello Everyone, I'm also taking A&P this semester. We have a test coming up on the 10th of October and I'm really freaking out! I find it very difficult to learn so much new material and keep up with my other classes. One thing I've found helpful is flash cards; stacks and stack of them LOL. Here in Alaska they only accept 16 student a year, so GPA is important overall. I'm worried about this class, too worried. I'd love to join your club and wish you all the best of luck. (No wonder they make shirts that say "I survived A & P." I want one..that is IF I do survive )
