I am taking my prerequisite to obtain my BSN. I am pretty much done with all of them except for my sciences and stats. This fall semester will be A & P 1 and chem both with lab. I am a wife and mother if 3. Two of my kiddos go to school. My study time is basically when my 2 yo goes down for his nap, which is 3 hours, and when my kids go to bed at night, about 1 1/2 hours. I could take advantage of his nap time about 5 to 6 days a week and the 1 1/2 hours at night about 3 to 4 times a week. Is that enough study time for both A&P 1 and chem, both with labs? I am just nervous about the science classes.
We sound like the same person! I am a 4.0 and I too will do anything :).I will be honest with you, it does not get any easier... actually harder in nursing school. There is a reason they recommend not working while in nursing school. I bet between my clinicals and studying I put in 40 hours a week outside of class.
Bust your butt for these few years, and it will pay off in the end.
Likewise, but I work too. Thank goodness my job let's me work 1 day a week (12hr shift though xP).
Anyways, assuming that the school(s) you're applying too are GPA based, you'll want to study and make sure you know it. Afaik and remember, anatomy and physiology is basic memorization so bust out those flash cards! I sure as hell did not study for either class or micro and barely made the cutline to get into my program; however, that was like 3 years ago, I've totally changed my study habits
Yes, I think that is doable. I took Anatomy with lab and Chemistry with lab together over the summer (6 week session). It was very time consuming but somehow I survived. I have four children and did most of my studying very early in the mornings before they woke up. You sound motivated so I think you will be fine. Good luck!!
I think as long as you don't allow yourself to fall behind, it is doable. Just remember A&P lecture requires a minimum of 2 hrs study each day. Many days I studied 4 or 5 hours.... Partly because I got behind. From the sounds of it, you appear to be someone dedicated to pass and stick with a schedule. Last thing..... Many nights I climbed in bed @ 0200 and had to be at work at 0700.... very hard to learn when your dead tired all if the time. Don't fall into that trap if you can avoid it...
I have 3 kids as well. I am doing 15 credit semesters... Actually did 11 this summer in 8 weeks. I study when my 2 year old and 1 year old nap and go to bed. I also have an amazing husband who comes home and let's me study and on his days off I can lock myself away and study. Is your husband able to help?
I think he would. He has before when I needed extra study time. I just think this time around I'm going to have to have another hours or two snd I'm going to have to find it somewhere. I'm going to have to be patient like my husband said and wait to see how things pan out. Just trying to get suggestions and ideas. Thanks!

I already bought some flash cards and if I need to i will make my own. I just know how important the science are. Just a little nervous.

Thanks for the post.
You can do it! I just finished a 6 week summer session Anatomy course with an A! I have an 8 year old and a 9 month old... it was intense but I got my A and so happy its over... determination is key.. you will do fine.. good luck!
That is awesome that you made an A in a summer session A&P. I am determined for sure. Thanks so much for the encouragement.
I don't think you necessarily HAVE to study for 2 hours every day, it just depends on how fast you learn. I didn't even study that much during summer A&P 2, and I earned an A. It's definitely going to vary from student to student. Some people need to study for 6 hours a day, while others only require 1 hour.

I know probably the first two weeks or so of class I will figure out how much study time I need. The first test will let me know how I did of course. I guess me being unsure of what to expect is my problem. Just nervous.
