I am taking my prerequisite to obtain my BSN. I am pretty much done with all of them except for my sciences and stats. This fall semester will be A & P 1 and chem both with lab. I am a wife and mother if 3. Two of my kiddos go to school. My study time is basically when my 2 yo goes down for his nap, which is 3 hours, and when my kids go to bed at night, about 1 1/2 hours. I could take advantage of his nap time about 5 to 6 days a week and the 1 1/2 hours at night about 3 to 4 times a week. Is that enough study time for both A&P 1 and chem, both with labs? I am just nervous about the science classes.
Good call... I did my lab on campus, it was helpful having the instructor explain things that I didn't quit understand. Plus, I really enjoyed his class and even his tests. He would set up stations around the room and place 2 or 3 bones, or a skull, at those stations. They had numbered labels on them and we had to write down what the bone was, and what part of the bone was labeled. The tough part was the spelling, he took off if we misspelled any of the words.
I stink at spelling. I'm going to have to work hard on that. Thanks!
Are you strong in your sciences? If so, I would say go for it! If not, I'd only take one lab science a semester. I know it will take more time to complete but you will be thankful when you are studying for two different labs the same night. I think a couple of hours a night per subject is bare minimum. I took two lab sciences in one semester and ended up retaking a class because I got a C and wanted the B. Good luck either way you go!

I have been out of high school for 17 years. I have taken all my other bsn prerequisite and have my sciences left. A&P 1 & 2, Chem 1 & 2, Micro, and Nutrition. My gpa is 3.86. Hopefully i can keep that with my sciences.
Well, my hubby and I were talking about my study time for the fall. It will look like I will have 6 hours a day five days a week and 2 to 4 hours on weekends. Hope that would be good enough for study time. Thanks for the post.

Honestly, I wouldn't do it if you haven't taken a science in 17 years. A friend of mine was in the exact same situation as you and failed her A&P 1 class and she was only taking 1 science class with 3 other degree requirements. A&P takes up so much of your time and is so much to grasp. I'd take one science and see how you feel then take 2 next semester if you feel comfortable with the work load being doubled. You have a great GPA, I wouldn't want to mess that up if it were me.

It is going to be hard. If I am overwhelmed the first 2 weeks or so I will drop one. I'm pretty determined so i'll do whatever it takes. I have more options for study time if need be on the weekends. I just would like to study 2 hours instead of 5 hours on Sat ans Sun for the sake of my kiddos. I will go there if need be.
