Is there already a thread for RNs waiting to hear about awards from the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program?
When I search, I can only find previous year's threads.
I was thinking about whether I would continue to make my payments plus the HRSA payments IF I'm lucky enought to get the award. But then I thought about the loan forgiveness program after 10 years in public service, so I thought maybe I should apply my money to my mortgage while I am getting the HRSA money (if I get the HRSA money). I don't know what the best thing is. Maybe an accountant would know the best way to use it.
BTW everyone - I have a new grandbaby on the way. My daughter is 11 weeks pregnant with 2cd child!!!
Congrats!
Just checked my contract AGAIN. You will be shocked to learn that it is still NOT signed. I know it does no good to call, but I thought maybe, just maybe, I would get someone who would hear the desperation in my voice and give me some sort of information other than "you will have to be patient. They have until October 31st to notify you." Unfortunately, I got the person who told me to be patient...
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't go on like this much longer
Okay, guys, tomorrow is another day..........I am no expert but I really think if you got the finalist award notice that more than likely it is a done deal. Now in saying that, I was a "WRECK" ......it's like you really want to hope but you are to scared to........It is a blessing that HRSA has this for nurses because "we work hard", and it is just the greatest thing for them to allow us to have it. For anyone that applies this year and does not get it......do not give up....if I had given up after last year, I wouldn't have the contract today.

Think positive!!!!!! Keep saying, it will happen, it will happen.....
RNeduc8r - Am I correct to assume you are faculty?I keep checking my contract - still not signed. I am waiting to see CTW61 announce that she has been signed because I got my email the day after her. She is faculty tier1, and I am faculty tier 2. Going crazy with the wait.
Remember, I was 4 minutes behind nurseracheal on the second signature but 5 days behind her on the official email.....that's why I was freaking out......

Thanks for the info, tgonzalez.
This is what I read that makes me think the signature is good news: "If an individual is selected for a NELRP award, the individual’s contract is signed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services or his/her designee. Please note that a contract is not effective until signed by the Secretary or his/her designee. An awardee will be able to download the award letter, a copy of the awardee’s signed contract, a Payment Authorization Worksheet (PAW), and a welcome packet from the BCRS Program Portal."
