  1. I too have not received first payment. I checked the portal and it says payment processed. I hope that means a deposit is on its way! The thing I feel bad about is that I want to find out why we pay taxes and the other HRSA loan program very similar to this one, but for physicians and NPs, don't have taxes. I feel like I should be happy for the money, and I am. But the taxes are so high, and that money would really help. I'm still going to have a lot of debt left after 3 years in this program (if I get the 3rd year).
  2. Congrats to all who got new signatures and emails this week. Prayers for those still waiting.
  3. Addy, I'm sorry to hear that things don't look good for your reimbursement. But I would keep watching the program. It did change alot this year, and you nevver know what other changes could happen. Plus look for loan repayment prgrams in your state. Hopefully you won't be on a Ramen noodle budget for much longer. Plus, this still is over, until its over.
  4. So my understanding is that you don't have to have them all consolidated. You can just check with each lender to see if you can get the IBR plan and if it will be eligible for loan forgiveness. If so, you complete an application for the IBR with each lender. You include information about ALL your loans, even the ones serviced by other lenders. Then they each calculate what your total payment should be, using a federal formula, and divide it up among all your lenders. Each year you have to give them new info about your income and dependents, and they will calculate the amount you owe for that year. If you can afford the standard payment, and can pay your loans off in 10 years, than its not that big a deal. But with so many of us having ratios of 200%, I'm surprised that people are on 10 year plans. I'm on a 30 year plan, so 10 year forgiveness will be a blessing, espesially since i'm approaching 50, and would like to retire before I'm 80. I've been paying on loans for 20 yers already. I was almost finished until I went back for masters & doctorate. These loans grow like crazy while on in school deferrment. It's ridiculous. Congrats to everyone getting good news, and keep the faith if your still waiting!!
  5. I believe you need to know your score to know what tier you are in. The HRSA website has a place you can enter your facility's address to get your score. Someone else will know the exact link. They probably already posted it, I haven't read all the pages yet. I wish you the best of luck. I know how important this award can be for us.
  6. It really depends on alot of factors. For me, I have a lot of debt that I'll be paying for approx 30 years, so getting into a program that would make me eligible for the loan forgiveness in 10 years was very important. For others who will be able to pay off loans in 10 yers anyway, then the loan forgiveness may not be that important. You have to consider what's right for you.
  7. Apply for a federal direct loan, from the government, not thru any third party lenders. you have to go to studentloans.gov and look for info on consolidation.
  8. Yes, the wait is difficu;t. And there are quite a few of us that have applied multiple years. So don't give up even if it's not this year.
  9. CaleyJo, Why not consolidate into a direct loan, then you only have one payment any way. And you can start the clock on loan forgiveness in the event you don't get them all paid off in 10 years, or the new bill goes thru and lowers the forgiveness wait time to 5 years.
  10. 1. I don't know the answer to number one. I read somewhere in last year's blog that they don't care how you pay, as long as all of the payment is going towards approved loans. 2. I believe that on the webinar information session they said you can consolidate after getting in the program. But I would clarify with then if you are consolidating any loans not covered by the program. 3. Yes, this can count toward the ten years, as long as your loans are eligible. I believe they have to be federal direct loans and on certain repayment plan like either Income based or standrd. But I don't know all the details. Mine are Federal direct loans and I'm in the income based repayment plan, and am eligible for forgiveness. So you may need to consolidate to get them into an eligible status.
  11. Allelluleah (I can't spell, but you know what I mean). They changed the smiley's and the little guys toasting each other with the beer glasses are gone but insert that picture here. I'm sooo happy for you. An praying for all those still waiting.
  12. OH BOY . I know this is really unbearable. The waiting is frustrating me, and I already got my final email. But as painfully difficult & disappointing each day without that signature is, you must believe that your second signature is going to show. One of the times you open your profile, you will scroll down, and it will be there. Or you wil open your email, not even looking for HRSA, and there it will be.
  13. I'm not paying any extra on my loans during the time I get this money. I am going to pay down other debt. after all, in ten years what ever is left can be forgiven, but no-one is going to forgive my mortgage. I still would like to know why this program is taxable and the other HRSA loan repayment is not? Who do you think can answer that? HRSA or the IRS?
  14. I refuse to start stressing about the third year until at least October!
