Is there already a thread for RNs waiting to hear about awards from the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program?
When I search, I can only find previous year's threads.
I was thinking about whether I would continue to make my payments plus the HRSA payments IF I'm lucky enought to get the award. But then I thought about the loan forgiveness program after 10 years in public service, so I thought maybe I should apply my money to my mortgage while I am getting the HRSA money (if I get the HRSA money). I don't know what the best thing is. Maybe an accountant would know the best way to use it.BTW everyone - I have a new grandbaby on the way. My daughter is 11 weeks pregnant with 2cd child!!!
Congratulations!!!! I have 1 and 2 year old grandbabies...they are the best!!!!! And I'm a young grandma!!! lol
I have thought about the 10 year forgiveness and my automatic drafts qualify me every month that I do it that way but this debt is like a cloud over my head.....I've thought about it every way I can and I just want to get rid of it......if I can some way squeeze all the extra money I can for the next few years then I will be done with it.......my cousin got me a card last year with these really old people in rocking chairs on the front porch, holding the mail, and she said, "look my last student loan payment"....lol...but it haunts me....Sorry, I'm taking up the board again today but remember, tomorrow is Wednesday and that has always been a good day to hear things.....good luck everyone!!!!!

Congrats on the new grandbaby! I have 7 and they are the best gifts from God!
Caleyjo: How do i figure out if i've gotten a credit check? Would that be under my application when i open it up on the portal login? I don't see anything in reference to that. I'm really trying not to freak out but i'm starting too... at first I wasn't because it looked like RNs had not been notified yet.. but now i've seen different postings from RNs that say they've already gotten their contracts!

Open your submitted application, go to the headline "NELRP Supporting Documents", and look under the subtitle "General Supporting Documents" (where your signed release forms, transcripts, proof of citizenship, etc are). Hopefully you should have a "credit report" and "excluded party list" (EPL) also. If not, I'd call them and try to pry out any info that you can!
There haven't been any RN's here that have officially received a contract, though many have received an email asking for our intent to accept an award. Don't give up!!
Hi new here! I have been following this thread and decided to join after seeing someone else the other day who said their app is still "under review". I am a Tier 1 RN with a Debt Ratio of 165%. My app still says under review. When I call, they tell me exactly what they told the previous poster, that they have until October 30 to contact me. But so many of you have heard back and some even have signed contracts and mine hasnt even been looked at??? I have pretty much given up hope at this point....
