NELRP is there a thread?

Published

Is there already a thread for RNs waiting to hear about awards from the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program?

When I search, I can only find previous year's threads.

I believe CRNAs are with NPs...CRNAs are considered advanced nurse practitioners.

From reading this, I gather that nurse midwives and CRNAs are grouped with RNs, and NPs are in their own category.

GasMan,

Having the EPL is a good thing...unless of course you've defaulted on federal debt. It's just another way they make sure your debt is in good standing.

I hope you are right! I specifically asked that question during the webcast and was told that CRNAs are not grouped with NPs. Have you been told something different?

NELRP is administered by the Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service (BCRS) in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The purpose of NELRP is to assist in the recruitment and retention of professional registered nurses (RNs), including advanced practice registered nurses (i.e., nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetist, certified nurse midwives, clinical nurse specialists), dedicated to working in health care facilities with a critical shortage of nurses or working as nurse faculty at an eligible school of nursing, by decreasing the financial barriers associated with pursuing a nursing profession.

Cool thanks. Never defaulted

Can you tell me exactly where you see that your application is under review and where you see the credit check and excluded persons list?

Thanks in advance!

I think everyone that has had a credit check, had the excluded party list....so I hope/think it is ok.

well, all are advanced practice nurses, i guess the focus would be if they are involved in family practice or mental health???? i really don't know the right answer to that but i know they have applied but don't know the outcome?

So is not having a EPL a bad thing as far as our status is concerned and our chances of getting an award?

Quote from HRSA website: "Up to twenty percent of NELRP funds will be made available for nurse faculty, and up to fifty percent of NELRP funds will be made available for nurse practitioners (NPs)."

This is why I think that all other APNs are grouped with RNs.
