NELRP is there a thread?

Is there already a thread for RNs waiting to hear about awards from the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program?

When I search, I can only find previous year's threads.

Hi, I just started following this thread and want to ask where you find the status of your application. I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place. When I login to the HRSA NERLP portal https://programportal.hrsa.gov/extranet/application/nelrp/login.seam

I see the following:

You have submitted your 2012 Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program online application!Your Application Status is: Submitted

Thanks and good luck everyone!

That is the correct website.

I always have doubts running through my mind, thinking that I made an error on my application somewhere. Here's my most recent over analyzed thought:

On the employment verification form, #2 asks for base annual salary. Did you guys calculate that based on your FTE (.8, .9, etc) or did you calculate it based on a full time (80 hrs/pay period) basis even if you don't work 80 hrs?

I plugged in my base salary right off my paystub, and I supported it by adding a letter that had the breakdown of pay from my job when I was hired. Since I work for a state hospital, it has your base and then the add-ons based on geography, time diff and whatever else, but that is always subject to changes in contract renegotiations, budget cuts and whatever. The base stays the same regardless. I don't know...everyday I have also been over analyzing my application, so I can totally understand. Honestly I'm not sure if that was the right thing but, that's what I did.

After the site updating, nothing seems to have changed on my page. I'm still Under Review...agh!! This is starting to wear on my nerves :barf01:

RNbrooklyn,

Are you saying you calculated it using your FTE, .9 for example, or do you work an actual full time 40 hr week?

I (and an HR rep) calculated it like this:

base hourly wage x FTE hours x 26 pay periods

StaceeRN,

Well I work 12.5 hour shifts and do 3 shifts for 3 weeks and 4 on the last, and my annual base salary is based off that. I'm not given a per hour rate though I could figure that out, I didn't see that nessesary. On my salary letter written from my job it had my annual base salary and how much on top of that I would be paid for whatever else. So I used that base number. Even on my paycheck it has how much I being paid, and a break down that states what's coming from base salary, and what's coming from add-ons from negations from elsewhere, because next year when my union contract goes in renegotiations those add-ons can change for better or worse, but I could never be paid less than my base. I hope that makes sense.

I am an NP. Our primary care score is 15 and mental health score is 17.

However, how you calculated it makes perfect sense. I wouldn't be worried if I was you.

StaceeRN,

I did not notice any change in dates for my loans or any other changes on my application. I simmted the application at the begining of January.

I feel a little better now, knowing that you're an NP. I know they are giving preference to APNs, so I can only hope that RNs are next in line to get some good news!

Happy for mvincent1980, sounds like very good news and all the way back in June? I must admit that discourages me a little. I am also a NP but my ratio is only 95 ish % Strange that no one else on this forum has heard anything or gotten any emails yet, it seemed like last year this forum was well-represented with people who got selected. Oh well, no sense in worrying about it I suppose.

Don't get discouraged and give up hope. I had a friend who found out September for NELRP 2011 application period. I don't know the order they choose, but I would not give up hope at this point. It is my understanding that they can send out award letters up until 9/30/12.

I don't see why you wouldn't qualify. From what I understand, it seems like they will find your facility's score somehow if it's not on the website. They shouldn't be able to disqualify you for something that's out of your control.

Are you sure you calculated your debt:salary ratio right? I just ask because I've never seen such a high ratio...whew!

I did search by facility address, the result was:

Primary: No

Mental: No

Dental: Yes, HPSA = 13

MUA/P: Yes

Also, yes, I did calculate my debt ratio correctly. The facility is a DSH and has qualified for NELRP in the past.
