NELRP is there a thread?

Published

Is there already a thread for RNs waiting to hear about awards from the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program?

When I search, I can only find previous year's threads.

Everyone watch your emails!!! I was contacted by the person working on my application....no news...just updating documents and things....at least I know I'm not in a rejected pile at this point...lol.....now I'm nervous!!!!:uhoh3:

If you don't mind me asking, what email server do you use, and did the email go into your inbox or spam? I normally don't check my spam, but I've been trying to check it more often just in case something important slips in there!

That's so exciting!! Sounds like especially good news for you!

Well, it just makes me feel better that it is being worked on but I still don't know my score or what tier I'm in but I know I'm not out of the game yet!!! I called hrsa to see if they could help me with my score but they couldn't locate it either and gave me a number for someone who could tell me but I had to leave a voicemail????

I use a local internet....grnco.net and it came in my inbox...not spam.... be sure and check in case something is missing or needs updated....and now we know for sure they will contact us if they need something

I'm so happy for you!!! Did your sender address include HRSA in it? The reason I ask is I have yahoo mail and unfortunately, sometimes I get 500-600 weird emails per day. I tried to change my email address for HRSA and they wouldn't let me. So every day I type in HRSA in the search mail but am still worried I'm gonna miss something! Thanks and congrats:)

yes, it comes from hrsa.gov

It does have the person's name in front of the hrsa.gov......so look at the whole sender's address

I just started following this year's thread after the stress of applying last year and not getting it. Now I feel like I'm going through the same thing as last year. So if I understand correctly, you have to work somewhere that has a HPSA score to be eligible? I work at the University of Virginia and a bunch of nurses I work with received the NELRP in the past, so I am confused now. Are UVA employees no longer eligible to receive funding? My ratio is 120%. Also, on my application, nothing has been added and it went from submitted but not reviewed to just submitted. So does this mean I didn't get it? One of my main reasons for wanting to work at UVA was so that I could receive funding because I wasn't eligible at my previous hospital so I'm starting to feel like I will never catch a break. If anyone has info I would really appreciate it! And good luck to everyone else on here! We all totally deserve it!

Just found this website... It looks like I fall into tier 3. Don't really know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program Funding Determinations

If your application still says submitted then you arent being considered for the NELRP program. The reason could be that the facility doesnt fall under the guidelines. I know this because the rep told me my application wouldnt be reviewed for this matter even though my county was listed. There are others reasons though they may not have reviewed it than just that. My debt/salary ratio was 185% so this is really upsetting. Good luck everyone!

Did they tell you specifically that if it still says submitted that you are not being considered? My hospital doesn't have a HPSA score but it is a Critical Shortage facility and I know a bunch of nurses who I work with who received funding in the past. I would fall under Tier 3 based off of this website. Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program Funding Determinations

I think the only way for you to find out if your facility is eligible is to call HRSA and ask. It seems like a good sign if nurses at your facility have received an award in the past, but because of the changes they've made in how they allocate the funds, it doesn't seem likely that they will be able to give awards outside of the first tier. But...it ain't over til it's over! Stay positive!

And it's possible that your application just simply hasn't been reviewed yet. Just think, if all of the applications had been reviewed or already deemed ineligible, they would start making awards. I don't know how they decide which applications to review first, but it's possible that they review by tiers and it could take a little longer for them to get to your application.

Don't give up yet. I was told by a HRSA representative that they have to review every single application. There were several thousand applications so I think they just have not completed them all yet. Keep positive:)
