Is there already a thread for RNs waiting to hear about awards from the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program?
When I search, I can only find previous year's threads.
My contract start date was 7/3 and I have not received my first payment. I sent a message through the portal and was told all disbursements will start in Sept and it does not necessarily correspond exactly with contract dates. I was also told the system is set up that way and can not be changed.
In the official welcome packet it tells you the contract dates and it states that you will be back paid so I suppose they will somehow work that out, but they just remind you to continue paying your loans until you receive your first payment and schedule recurrents for the end of the month.
This is torture. I'm still waiting for a second signature as well. Anybody from Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH apply for this program and get accepted? All the nurses in my dept. have never even heard of this program. Best of luck to everyone still waiting and congrats to those who have received their final emails.
Keep the faith. I waited over 30 days for the second signature. They are not through making awards yet. Remember you are not alone in this torture. This is torture. We all know that the waiting is terrible but I think if u got the first email , u will hopefully get second signature soon, try and stay calm!
CaleyJo,Why not consolidate into a direct loan, then you only have one payment any way. And you can start the clock on loan forgiveness in the event you don't get them all paid off in 10 years, or the new bill goes thru and lowers the forgiveness wait time to 5 years.
In order to get the loan forgiveness does it have to be direct loan?
