Oh wow, really? Yes you had it right, under the loan information my dates had changed from my original entry date. I am nervous now because I never received any calls from my bank or anything like that. As a matter of fact, they never even asked for my bank information yet. they asked for yours? or your friends?? I'm wondering if I should check my credit info. This is so nerve racking!! But seriously did they ask for that info somewhere that I don't know of??

shortsuzy87, hey did they already ask for her banking information too?? because I don't even remember them asking for any banking information and after I read your blog, i called the HRSA just to be sure I didn't miss anything and she said that they only will ask for your banking information if and when you receive a probable award (before you get awarded, probably via email like last year but shwe wasn't sure the communication route). So did they already ask for your friend's information. I know i probably sound like I'm freaking out and that's probably true! ha ha, I'll be a crazy person until I know more information I guess too. But yes, I would really like to know if she already got an email. The chick on the phone said that we probably wouldn't know anything until Fall again. Uggghhh

Amy, to my knowledge (which she didn't go into much detail as she is doing a much better job at staying calm than us!) she was not asked her banking info. I know the classic email you are talking about. They only called to see if she had indeed given HRSA permission to access her financial status information. She also saw the CDC/health services gov checked her credit via a credit report. Hey at least your dates changed! I've got nothin'!

When did you submit your application? When did your friend? Because I am scared to check my credit report because, you're right, it's not free. And i'm pretty sure I would definitely have to pay because my husband and I have already had to get our credit checked because of purchasing a home/car/etc....But if you didn't submit your application till later on, they probably just haven't gotten to you yet. When did your friend submit her application, do you know? Because I submitted mine like the beginning of January so I was pretty early. That maybe the only reason why I'v noticed a change in my date. Phew...I got worried when you were talking about the bank information. Because I do know that I NEVER gave the HRSA my banking information or anything like that. This is my second year applying and I am praying to God I get it. It would be a lifesaver for me and my familly. Since we didn't get it last year, my husband is acting like your friend, being calm and collected and he keeps saying "well if we get it we get it, if we don't we don't", but I just really really really want it!!!! It would be such a help!

Amy, my online application was submitted around 2/4/11. I snail mailed my supplemental paperwork and it arrived at HRSA on 2/8/11 (I did special shipping with verification of arrival). My friend submitted hers around 1/12/11 I think.

I'm going to wait about the credit check and just try to relax. There are websites where it is free to check it once a year, but it's way to early for me to waste that.

This is my first year applying with a ratio of 140-150%. The big thing I'm nervous about is my DSH status. I work in a medical bldg, but it's connected with the DSH hospital in my area (like literally connected by a bridge and we are the same company). HR had trouble figuring out WHO exactly my employer was. Our entities are all one in the same, and he told me to put the hospital and select DSH, and said he would verify that if they contacted him, but technically the BUILDING I work in the the medical outpatient building (again the big kahoona employer is all one in the same). Hopefully that's ok.... After all I did exactly what HR told me.

I get the worry. I'm trying to hard not to count on it, but failing miserably. I'm 23 and graduated in July 2009. I live alone and I'm trying to pay my Dad back along with close to $500 dollars in student loan bills every month. The most frustrating part is my rent is $625, so I could afford a house payment, but I can't save for the initial down payment because of my debt. This would be such a huge life change and open so many doors for me! Good luck to you! I hope you stay on here regularly so we can keep track of one another!

so shortsuzy87, i gave in and checked my credit. Nothing yet. Nobody has inquired about me. Now I'm starting to get sad again. I couldn't help that my hopes were definitely raised after the date had changed on my application. I submitted mine the beginning of January so I am pretty sure if they would've checked my credit, it would've been done by now, right?? But I guess only time can tell now. My husband thinks I'm worrying way too soon. But you were right, I went on some website where I got my full credit report for free. They never asked for any type of credit card or anything so that was good. I had let my mother-in-law send in my mail to the NELRP people a long time ago, like January 4th, and I too was supposed to get some type of verification that they had received it. But I don't think I did now that I think about it. I hope to God they received everything because that would be just awful if I don't get this because of a stupid fall-out like that. As for your DSH problem, I think you should be fine. I mean, you did whatever HR told you and as long as the "hospital" is on that list of DSH facilities (and they almost all are!!), then I think you should be ok. Good luck, again, and I hope to God we both get it!!! Keep me posted!!

shortsuzy87, one more thing, when you look @ your submitted application, what does your application status say? Because mine still says: application period is now closed. is yours different?? I am hoping that too is not a bad sign that they never received my mailed-in paperwork.

I have not been on in a while to look at everyones responses...mostly because I am trying not to think about it since we have a ways to go. I have read all the recent posts, check the website and my stuff says application period is closed too, then I checked my credit report and there was nothing :uhoh3: I have been going crazy. I could really use the money just as I am sure everyone else could, I just have really bad luck when it comes to catching a break. Just trying to stay positive :nurse:

hey jesskrn,

i know what you mean! i go crazy too. The whole waiting game sucks. This money would be life-changing to me too, like it would to everyone else that gets or doesn't get it! No one has checked my credit neither and now that makes me sad...sometimes I wish I just didn't know about stuff like that because it makes me get so discouraged. And now I keep thinking, I wonder if I am even still eligible because I know a few years back I defaulted on a loan (I think, I'm not really sure if it counts as "default" or what but I know it negatively affected my credit and although this was 6 years ago, you can still see that it "could be" an adverse part of my credit report), and I was reading the ineligibility and eligibility critera again on the website and it says if you are ever default on a state or local agency you are deemed ineligible. So I don't know if that would count against me or not. I keep looking into all sorts of reasons for me to get and not to get this money; it's enough to drive anyone insane!!!! But anyways, good luck! I wish we all could get this money just cause we're nurses! I feel like when I go back and read what I write on past blogs, I sound like a crazy nurse foaming at the mouth, wanting some type of answer. hee hee hee

Amy,

I dont think you sound crazy at all. I think you sound like a person who is trying to who wants to catch a break and get ahead. I got myself in some finacial trouble while in nursing school so that I could get a degree and get ahead in life. I am still working on trying to catch up from that and $600 a month in student loans is eating up all my extra funds. The assistance would help me get out of student loan debt so then I could work really hard towards my other debts. I too have some black marks when it comes to my credit, so I hope that it doesnt hurt me in the end. I am glad that I found this thread and that there are others out there who have my struggle and understand. I wish you the best of luck.

Jess

Hi,

I'm not sure if any of you have Sallie Mae/ Sallie Mae - The Dept of Edu as your lenders, but I received correspondence via my online account that Dept of Health & Human Services "as requested access thru my account" or something like that...

Hello all! Amy, my status still says "application period is now closed," so I would try not to worry. I read all of the blogs from last year and I don't think many ppl (if anyone) had credit checks this early. Try to relax, but I understand the stress. I finally calculated my actual ratio and it's 158%. Good for NERLP, bad for me, lol.

Jess, did your loan dates change too? I've heard absolutely nothing.

Sweetmeggy, I'm happy for you but that fact makes me damn nervous!!
