Hi all!!! Is anyone out there applying for the Nurse Education Loan Repayment for 2011..I came across the thread for 2010 but was just looking for some additional support...ahhhh!!!!!!!! Its so stressful!
Thanks!
Hi everyone!
I also applied for the first time this year. My debt to income ratio is about 120% (which I thought was super high until I read the threads from previous years!) I am just keeping my fingers crossed!
I did not send promissory notes either, but other documents that had the criteria they asked for. I think that's fine.
Good luck everyone :)
Sedietsch, thanks for the info!
IndtrpRN, I actually called HRSA with that exact question. Granted the guy I got acted like I was a moron, but he said the first bulleted list (aka disbursement dates, etc) is the required info and the items listed later (aka promisary note, etc) are suggested documents that may contain the info required above. I hope that's true because I only submitted a promisary note for one lender! Also, these stats were on the NELRP website:
That means at least 1 in 6 ppl who applied got an award right? I guess they had to be eligible applicants though....
My friend sent hers today Feb 8 the deadline by FAX but I guess she didnt realize the cutoff time was 5pm EASTERN TIME. She was like 1hr 30 mins late...DO YOU THINK THEY WILL STILL ACCEPT HER info?? I guess the fax kept saying busy...
Any suggestions????
And GOod Luck with those that submitted theirs! Its so stressfull!!
Are there any other loan repayment programs out there like this????????
Hi! Yes, I also applied (for the second time) to the NELRP! I didn't get it the first time and I'm pretty sure it was because I filled out the application wrong. I put that I worked at a Nondisproportionate Share Hospital when in fact, I work @ a DSH hospital so even though I'm in the #1 ranking, my mistake hurt me and put me on the list so I don't even think anyone even looked @ it! If I do get this I will be the happiest nurse alive! I too have like 150% in debt right now with loans (or maybe more like 160%. so we'll see! I am not sure who all else is out there but has anyone noticed that the date changed under the loans page again on the application. I know mine did NOT change the first time I applied last year and since this time it did change, I'm getting so nervous. Anyone else's changed out there????
Also, nurse79, I am sorry but I think it's too late for your friend. There are just so many people who apply to this thing they are very strict with their application policy. I think even the smallest of mistakes makes a difference for these people. That is why they say over and over again on the application policy and procedures that basically if you mess up, YOU WILL BE SKIPPED/OVERLOOKED. I seriously went over and over my application (it was like an inch thick) the second time around to make sure everything was in it's correct place. The application process is so overly extensive but this loan could be life-changing for so many nurses. This is how they weed out nurses. Tell your friend good luck anyhow though!
Really!! Thats horrible!! It seems like they are very unorganized. The only reason she faxed it was bc online it said to receive app by the 8th of Feb but after she faxed it (1 hour late) she called and they said it just needed to be postmarked by the 8th. She's sooo frustrated. I don't want to tell her but I guess we'll see. They should be more clear on their wishes though
So was she able to post mark it by that day? Well, i hope it works out for her. It is quite frustrating. Has anyone out there who's applied noticed that when you look again @ your submitted application, your loan information dates have changed? I submitted my application on january like 4th or 5th or something and now the date has changed to 2/11/11 and 2/15/11. so I'm hoping that means SOMETHING?? I do remember on the 2010 thread last year some nurses said that their dates had changed under the loan part like this and they all got it! So I'm gonna keep praying. I just wish we could hear something sooner. The waiting kills me!!!

I can't even figure out how to look at my submitted application!? After I submitted it the login button has either moved or I'm just stupid and can't find it. I definately want to see if my loan dates have changed, but it's hard to know what you're talking about when I can't even login! HELP!?
Yes, the button did move. Did you figure it out? You have to google, nelrp 2011 login. My husband, who is also an rn, told me how to do it because i couldn't figure it out neither. Then, it automatically takes you to the correct website again. I was told last year when i again, couldn't figure it out, that you should add it to your favorites page on your computer and that way it won't be difficult to find it again. If you need anymore help, let me know! Good luck!!!

Amybarbern, yes thank you! I figured it out now! The only loan dates I see are under the "date entered" column for each individual loan within the loan section of the application. My dates correlate with the proper dates that I actually entered them..... Maybe that's bad ? Or are you looking somewhere else?
One of my friends got a credit check already and her bank called her to verify that HRSA could look into her banking info. I thought about checking to see who has looked at my credit, but you can only do it once for free! Lol I figured I better wait until I'm about to go crazy!

Hello all! This is my first time applying for the NELRP as well. I read all the blogs from last years program and see that the chances of being picked are very slim-like winning the lottery. Last year you had a 10% chance of winning after meeting the top criteria. Hopefully this year will be better with all the extra funding by Obama :) Also, yes alot of applicant's debt-to-income ratio is ridiculous like >200%. However, many people were funded last year whose ratios were about 100% or a little over. Seems like there is a slight downfall to the program-with paying taxes-after paying taxes you may only really receive about 40% repayment. Either way anything helps!!! My debt ratio is onyl about 90% but Im really hoping to be considered!!
Question?? Do you have to send a promissory note for the correct documantation on your loans?? I sent other documentation showing dispursement dates and such-just not sure it will be good enough.
