Hello Everyone,
I am going to apply for NELRP for 2010. I am getting married in June '10. I am wondering if when I apply, will they look at my debt to income ratio or that of me and my husbands combined income once we are married, since we are getting married in the middle of the application process. If anyone knows I would love to know. My debt to income ratio by my self is 268%, but much less with my fiances income added. Right now I live with my parents and am struggling to pay my loans.
Thanks,
Sarah
Here's what their website states:
For the past three years, all applicants selected to participate met the first preference for funding (total qualifying education loans 40 percent or greater than base annual salary working at a Disproportionate Share or Critical Access hospital, federally designated facility, nursing home or State or Local public health or human services department).
I couldn't find it now, but last year I found a spreadsheet or document that showed exactly what was given out to each individual, so that may help you!
I am currently in the process of applying for the NELRP, and I was curious as to the lowest debt to salary ratio anyone has had that has received the award? Mine is 80%, which I thought was great until I started reading these posts of people with a ratio of well over 150%! My hospital is in the first funding preference, but I still feel like I'm totally outta the running... Just wondering what people have heard... thanks!
I would really like to know this as well Nakeliku. My debt to income ratio is 173% and I am also in the first funding preference so I hope it all goes well for both of us :) Where do you live? I reside in Minnesota and left a job where I was making 30$ an hour and another job that I picked up shifts at for extra cash just to go to a nursing home, which really sucks so I am praying to the lord that he finds this in my favor. I am happy that I can chat with others that are going through this crazy process as well it makes me feel a little relieved. If you find any leads on this question please post them.
Well with that kind of ratio, I'm sure you'll be fine! I saw somewhere that the people who got awarded last year had somewhere around 140% and above.... not sure if that's accurate or not, but it sounds about right....
I live and work in Los Angeles. This sort of loan repayment would be a huge blessing for me as well, and I will keep you posted with anything I hear!
The online app is mostly your personal information, dates you've attended school (loans must match NURSING school enrollment dates), and loan information. You provide your bank information as well for the awarded monies to be deposited into.
There's also a paper application and you have to get a letter from your facility that states that they meet the criteria for a CSF, and an employment verification form that lists your salary and whether or not you have any type of obligation to your employer at this time (which would disqualify you from the NELRP). Then there's the forms you fill out with information on each of your loans.
I think that's it...those are the biggies!
I'm also applying for the program. What a pain in the neck! I'm terrified of making a tiny error on any of these forms. Totally worth it though. I'm at 252% and in the first funding preference.Has anyone done the online application yet? I'm wondering what exacty is on there.
Wow kiky 87! that is a huge number I am gonna assume you have you have your MSN or Doctorate in nursing for such a high number? Anyways, I know what you mean it is a pain in the neck. I just think it sucks because I can't count my loans where a cosigner was needed But it that's okay and doesn't matter because I rest assured that the Lord is gonna make something great happen for me. I am also worried about making any errors on the forms because I want to get funded for all the Loans I send into them.
