  1. I'm getting a SCS later this year. Are you allowed to pull up patients once you get it? I dont want to be a PITA telling people I can't do it. May need to find a new job if that's the case.
  2. Have you heard anything more about this?
  3. Anyone else here with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome? I was diagnosed at 17 and have been working as a nurse for 2.5 years. Just wondering how it affects your work performance.
  4. Anyone who was accepted to MUSC's FNP program want to share their GPA? (can PM me) I want to see where I fall.
  5. It's been awhile since you posted. What did you decide? I'm looking at USC and MUSC as well for FNP.
  6. Maybe someone else is in the same boat as me... I'm looking for FNP programs that offer distance learning, with no GRE requirement. Anyone have a comprehensive list or suggestions?
  7. Hello! I'm looking for a little bit of career guidance. I am a med/surg nurse with 2.5 years of experience at a Level I Trauma Center. I'm also involved as adjunct faculty teaching BSN clinicals, among other things. I'm getting burnt out on my floor and looking to move into a higher level of care. I plan on going back to school to become an NP in the next few years. In the meantime I'm looking to move into a higher level of care. If I want to work with cleft/craniofacial patients (which many would be children), would it be detrimental to take an adult SSU or STICU position? I have never worked with children before, nor do I have my own. I'll be honest... I'm a bit intimidated by it! Also, would the FNP route be appropriate for working with this population? My preference would be to see patients in clinic and also follow them when hospitalized. (I have to check on state laws regarding FNP's working within the hospital.) If I'm going to make a move I want to make the right one. :)
  8. Just a little side note, UMMC is the #1 trauma center for adults.. Hopkins is the #1 trauma center for peds, and Hopkins Bayview is the Burn Center. So to the OP, keep that in mind if you're looking for a particular specialty.
  9. hopkins grad here who is up to her eyeballs in debt. looking back would i have still picked hopkins? without a doubt. as baltdave stated, outside of the baltimore area the hopkins name opens up doors for you. even with this horrendous economy and competitive nature with job openings, i was offered two jobs on the spot down in south carolina where i had intended on moving to. i can't attest as to how the education differs, but my thought was why not go to school at hopkins and do clinicals at the #1 ranked hospital in the u.s.? hopkins is also the #4 grad school in the country. i'm slowly working on paying my loans and i still don't regret the decision. you'll only go for your rn/bsn once, go where your heart tells you to.
  10. Just for clarification, March 4th is the deadline. I called the call center and they told me that any loans with a co-signer are not eligible. They also said it is mentioned in that info packet we were to read. But it read it three times over and don't see it??? I only see where if you consolidated debt with another person then those loans are eligible. To me, that and having a cosigner are two different things.
  11. nnestle, what kind of picture was painted for you? some say it's lottery for those who qualify, others are told they start at the top and work their way down, others are told they try to fund as many as possible so those with very high percentages dont get it, but people further down the list will. this all is so confusing.
  12. I just did a quick, and probably not thorough search, of HRSA's FAQ and didn't see anything about a co-signer disqualifying you. I also don't remember reading anything regarding that in the packet they have you read. Can anyone shed some more light on this?
  13. You didnt offend me at all. Didn't even cross my mind.
  14. Nubian Queen, No I just went to a very pricey private university and work in the south were pay is low. And you cant count loans where you had a cosigner? Where is that listed? The loans where I had a cosigner have since been consolidated on my own, so I guess I'm okay.
  15. Oh, I'm also waiting on a form from one of my lenders. I have the paperwork that states loan amt, disbursement dates, rate, just no conditions on it. I guess a MPN would suffice for "conditions?"
