  1. Yeah you'll be fine. They just can't be outside courses that you were taking "for fun" or for another degree... If you are taking th as your BSN requirement then they are ok!! Good luck!!
  2. just got my FIRST DEPOSIT!
  3. received my email around August 3rd to sign the verification and submit bank info.... received my completely contract in the mail on the 25th!!! debt to income ratio 105%.... work at a Los Angeles DSH/CSF! SO EXCITED!
  4. I JUST got my email to sign my acceptance, contract, and send bank info. I had all but lost hope that I was still in the running! Now just going to eagerly await my official contract in the snail mail....
  5. Well with that kind of ratio, I'm sure you'll be fine! I saw somewhere that the people who got awarded last year had somewhere around 140% and above.... not sure if that's accurate or not, but it sounds about right.... I live and work in Los Angeles. This sort of loan repayment would be a huge blessing for me as well, and I will keep you posted with anything I hear!
  6. I am currently in the process of applying for the NELRP, and I was curious as to the lowest debt to salary ratio anyone has had that has received the award? Mine is 80%, which I thought was great until I started reading these posts of people with a ratio of well over 150%! My hospital is in the first funding preference, but I still feel like I'm totally outta the running... Just wondering what people have heard... thanks!
  7. No, unfortunately no sign on bonus (experienced OR RNs get one though!) But yeah, I'm REALLY excited to start the program - the extensive training is what really drew me to CHLA in the first place! It seems like they really know how to invest in their employees! How long have you been at CHLA?
  8. Graduated May 2009, took NCLEX at the end of May and passed, will be starting at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) September 8th in the O.R. - my DREAM job! :)
  9. A new graduate from my Accelerated BSN program at Mount Saint Mary's College in LA was offered a position in labor/delivery back in March, and recently got word that she won't be able to start until October....
  10. no i didnt take the bioethics course through taylor. i'm currently finishing it this semester at MSMC. the taylor course is a lot cheaper - about $600 i think (as opposed to almost $3000 through MSMC), and you can start it at any time. the school now requires that if you're going to do it through taylor, you have to have it finished by the time you start at MSMC. the taylor class requirements include 5 essays, and thats it. the class i am finishing at MSMC had 2 essays, 3 tests. just for a good comparison. it wasnt that overwhelming to take the class concurrently, but it was quite a load, since it put me at 21 units. hope this helps!!
  11. anyone know what to do with that UCLA Access form that was sent in our admissions packet? do we just bring it with us, or do we have to send it to UCLA or what?
  12. i called the registrar's office too because i was having the same problem, but the girl sounded like she had no idea what she was talking about, so i'm glad to hear that it's a problem with the system!! AHH I KNOW, I cant believe its coming up so fast! But I am SOOOOOOO excited!
  13. i got the email to my MSMC email from someone in the Registrar's office .... have you checked that email yet?
  14. so i got the note telling me to register for courses, and i went ahead and did so, but wasnt able to register for the last one (45B) cuz it would give me more than 18 units, and the system said that i cant register for more than this online. so i emailed back the registrar's office asking them what to do, but havent gotten a response.....
  15. that "are you competitive" question was definitely the one that threw me for a loop too! i had NO idea what to say, but i pretty said the same thing - that i hold myself to a pretty high standard, but that i do like working with people when everyone pulls up their end of the deal (to which she replied that everyone in a program like this usually does!). the rest of the interview for me was pretty much the same also - we talked for quite sometime and that really eased the tension...mary is SO nice and not scary to talk to at all...when i first walked in she said "you're not nervous are you? cuz you shouldnt be!" and from that point on i felt totally fine...the rest of the questions were along these lines...... "how did you hear about the program", "why do you want to be a nurse", "are you ok with not having a life for the next year", "does your family know what kind of commitment this is going to be and will the be supportive of you during this time?", "What do you do to deal with stress?" hopefully this, too, gives you a bit of a heads up on what to expect when you apply!
