I once worked in a large inner city er. When it gets cold, hot, the patient gets tired, hungry or just wants to watch tv, they come to the ER. Medicare patients come to the ER because it is cheaper for them. Many time these people are brought to the ER via ambulance. Do ambulances take patients to clinics? I remember one person whom took an ambulance at tax payer cost to the ER to receive a pregnancy test, at taxpayer cost. WHY she said she didn't want to pay $5 at walgreens for a test. Many of these people just want a place to stay. Of course the taxpayer does not want to be taken advantage of. That is support people whom are just lazy. Perhaps we do need more social programs to assist those that have mental health issues.
