Nelrp

I am just curious as to what the max. dollar amount is that the NELRP will repay. I understand the 60% for 2 yr. committment and another 25% for third yr. but what is the max. dollar amount? I have looked at the website and I have found nothing about it except the percentage. Other places I have looked have stated up to $15,000 and up to $30,000. Are these two different programs? I also do not understand they have a TON of applicants but I am really curious about the program (private tuition is doing a number on me). Any info. would be greatly appreciated!!!

Nope. But then, I didn't get a phone call either, so whatever. I'm fairly certain that, given that I found out about the whole thing two days before the deadline and scrambled it together, I screwed up the app somehow.

Hey, maybe if I go back to graduate school and get myself in some MORE debt for not much of an increase in salary, my ratio will go up! Sounds good, no? :yeah:

Ha-that's exactly what I was thinking about grad school-seems like the more debt the better.

I just called the HRSA call center and the man who answered gave me a pretty reheorificed response when I asked about my status..."They are still sending out the reward and denial letters and you should receive a letter in the next 2 weeks." I asked if he could tell me specifically if I was awarded the loan and he said, "Unfortunately I cannot." No suspicious deposits to my bank account, and now my status on their site has changed from "info received" (or whatever it said that was like that) to "application not yet completed." THAT really bums me out because it looks like they just wiped out my application. How about those of you who got the loan, did your status change yet?

When I spoke to the HRSA people it seemed to me that they really don't have any information about whether we were awarded it or not-they can just view if our app is complete, but maybe that is what they are supposed to say or something.

geeezzz... my application status changed like that too!!!... my whole application is gone!.... did anyone that got the award change?!?!...

crazy!~

A couple of people on this thread got hints or were simply told that they got it or not. I think it dpends on who answers. I am sure they have no idea how we are all stressing about getting this money. The other thing I wish they would consider in addition to your income:debt ratio is how much you have already paid off. I have been paying my loans for 7 years and only found out about this program this year. That is A LOT of money I have already paid out which reduces my ratio and I have always worked at a disproportionate share hospital that would have qualified me for the loan.

One thing we did was ran my wife's credit report (you can get one yearly) to see if there are any inquiries from HRSA or NELRP etc. on there (not sure exactly what shows up because there aren't any on hers).

It's my understanding that they run your credit report when you have been accepted, to verify your loan/debt status. So I would say that if there arent any inquiries on your report from them, then you more than likely didn't get it. Especially being this late in the game.

Elizabells-Have you heard anything? And Kmoore-what type of hospital do you work at? Just trying to understand this whole thing...

Molly,

My wife works at a DSH/CSF (University of KY hospital). She is receiving assistance on her federal loans already. It's just these private loans that are absolutely killing us!

FMSW,

We basically stumbled accross NELRP while doing a web search. It is not advertised in our area (KY) and I don't think there were very many applicants whatsoever from my wife's hospital which is one of the largest, if not the largest in our area. Her HR dept. seemed to have no knowledge of the forms, etc. when she took them to have them filled out. So, I guess is some ways it is a good thing that it isn't heavily advertised in some areas. Less competition (if that's possible).

I just checked my credit report...no inquiries since we purchased our home. What a let down. Thanks for the idea to check though!

they checked my credit back when i received my phone call verifying my pay off amounts (not bank info or anything else-just pay off amts)... i found out cuz my home loan owners called me wanting to know if i was looking to refinance and i told them "no" and they said well they were tipped off by a creditor looking into my credit-didnt say who but told me if i haadnt given anyone permission i needed to look into it cause it could be fraudulant... anyway, thats when i looked into my credit reports and say that it was the nelrp federal people...

anyway, i didnt get the award so apparently they just do whatever to different folks... who knows how they really award people... probably just random!

I got my deposit in the bank to as well. Everyone check your bank accounts. You may have a nice surprise waiting for you :)

just curious... did your status on the NELRP website change?.... some of us have been completely wiped out it seems... just wondering if they wiped out everyone....

I received the award this year and my status changed to application "not yet completed" as well. Also I never received a phone call to verify my loan pay off amounts or anything asking me if I was still interested, I received the letter last week only.

Hi, I see your sign on is "Huskies Nu(rse?). Do you work in or near Seattle? That is where I work. I was hoping mail here is delayed.
