Nelrp

Published

I am just curious as to what the max. dollar amount is that the NELRP will repay. I understand the 60% for 2 yr. committment and another 25% for third yr. but what is the max. dollar amount? I have looked at the website and I have found nothing about it except the percentage. Other places I have looked have stated up to $15,000 and up to $30,000. Are these two different programs? I also do not understand they have a TON of applicants but I am really curious about the program (private tuition is doing a number on me). Any info. would be greatly appreciated!!!

Yeah, I noticed that too-but I asked someone at HRSA that same question and she said that it doesn't matter what state you are from, there is no limit of award recipients for each state, the awards are only based on your funding preference and your income/loan ratio...you're right though, who knows:)...

Nothing here-I am beyond stressed out..

Nothing here either. I don't understand if there are people getting it with less %'s than we have, and they actually do award strictly by debt/income ratio, then there's got to be an issue with the application.

That's the only way I can make sense of it. I'll give it one more day, then I am calling HRSA to see if they will tell me anything (probably not without first receiving the good ol' denial letter).

Still one more day though, maybe a miracle will happen. Good luck to all still out there.

Hey guys, nothing today either for me but I did call HRSA. The gentleman I spoke with said some letters are actually getting sent out late and some award letters should be received by the end of this week! So there is still hope!! Good Luck everyone! Still have time!! Stay positive!!! Kate:heartbeat

Kate-That makes me feel a little better, but I'm still freaked. I'm going to try to call again tomorrow as well, and if anyone one else hears anything or finds out any information let us know. It doesn't make any sense for us not to get it which is what is so frustrating!

Kate,

Thanks for calling and finding that out. I realize that my wife's % is not as high as you and Molly, but I feel like at 175% I should have a good chance considering Jeremy was at 140% and already got a letter.

You guys should definately get it being above 200%.

so i got nothing....oh well, again next year it is for me i guess...

i spoke with someone on the phone and they explained this to me... ill try my best to make it make sense for you guys....

ok, here goes...

it is based on ratio and DSH as first choice HOWEVER, lets say someone has a lower ratio and you both work at DSH's-the next step in choice is the DSH in greatest need and it could be the place the one with the lower ratio is working at...

also, they said they only have so much of a budget and they try to award the most people they can.. again leading me to believe that they would pick say two people to help with 140% ratios over 1 person with a 280% ratio. If they do that not only are they helping an extra person but they are also locking in an additional contract which helps with the shortage...

if you think about it, it does make sense...

either way im ***** since i didnt get it :sniff:

I am so sorry that you did not receive an award. It is really screwed up that they state it goes by highest ratio and then they don't pick the people with the greatest need. They should put a disclaimer on their website explaining this. I understand that they want to help as many people as possible, but they should try to help the people who need it most first considering how the economy is at the moment.

Did the man tell you that you were not receiving an award? I don't understand why they would call you and verify everything if they were not going to send you a letter?

Lostsoulfly-What number did you call?! That is totally not the info I just got at the general HRSA call center...!

the guy basically told me i didnt receive the award. he said "nothing has been mailed for you thus far"... so he didnt come out and say it but basically it could be assumed ;).. i kinda expected not to get it after reading this forum on a regular basis... you all had higher ratios than me--i figured you guys def. would have gotten it!....i was just hoping we all could!!

they called me to verify payoff amounts on july 29th but i never got the phone call yall got verifying bank info and stuff...

oh well...

Lostsoulfly-What number did you call?! That is totally not the info I just got at the general HRSA call center...!

i called the 1800 number from the website... spoke with someone named Ryan....

LOL~~this is so crazy! Whatd they tell you?!?!?

They just told me that they were way behind and that they were sending out award letters until October!
