I don't know what to say here but DANG!. My patient is on my last nerve right now. He's CONSTIPATED at 2AM!! What in the world do you want me to do???? I gave your miralax. You have nothing else. NEWS FLASH... I'm not calling MD at 2 am for something. CHECK FOR impaction??? omg ... and on my birthday :( just real irritated right now at this needy needy man. HE's not fooling me. He can do much more than what he's portraying.

Really... he's impacted. OMG really and I've just had to push my clock back 1 hour. :(

I hate doing digitals and mining for poop. I can wipe up poop, and wipe butts while thinking of the cafeteria menu. But..to dig out bm is just too much. EWWW!

I absolutely love when we have prn MOM on board. Mix it with 120ml warm prune juice and two pats of melted butter. My little old people seem to like it just fine. Had one a while back that decided it would become his evening toddy...:rolleyes:

Y'all are too funny with this!

Literally it was a bunch of crap.

This man gets impacted at home and his poor wife has to do this. BUT they didn't tell us on admission, hey- Mag citrate at home with miralax and 2 senna. Anyways, I checked that man and sure he was impacted. So he got another dose of constpiating narcotics IV and there I went with my little fingers and up to my elbow. He was sorry he asked for my help because I manually cleaned his ass out. There was nothing left! Since we don't have PRN orders for the unit it's all personable with the pts. And it's not just that. Everytime I come in, it's "can you adjust my shoulders? can u adjust my feet? Can you adjust the sheets under my feet? Can you stand there and let me whine? Even his wife had enough. She told him to shut up and go to sleep, it was 2am and he didn't need to be adjusted so much. LOL I was jumping up and down inside. BTW I dont mind impactions. I do like to get my hands dirty so to speak. I think I'm at the wrong side bedside nursing.

AND THANK YOU to those who really acknowledged my birthday. My birthday means alot and I was kinda forced to work it. I have had the worst 2 days. Both night short staffed. Tonight we have 4 nurses and one of them is a hospice nurse. I have 9 pts with one being a new admit. It's been HELL. I haven't had any sleep so it's that much more HELL. I'm requesting a do over this weekend for my birthday. And I do NOT have mr whiney britches tonight Thank GOD!

Thank you so much! A slice of heaven. My friendgirl made me cupcakes yesterday and had one with a candle in it ready for me when I got to work! It looked just like that piece of cake!

2. In the long run you might consider trying to get some standard orders for your unit for constipation.(I'm very surprised there aren't any).

And standing orders for pain, sleep, fever, anxiety & N/V. You know, the basics. Why can't MDs realize this? They know we're going to call about it eventually...so just order it! :smackingf

AND THANK YOU to those who really acknowledged my birthday. My birthday means alot and I was kinda forced to work it. I have had the worst 2 days. Both night short staffed. Happy belated birthday-enjoy them now because after you have had 50 or so they stop being as much fun (I have to go and finish my afternoon tea and retire to the library with my Nook-or I'll miss my "window" )
