I HAVE BEEN OFFERRED A JOB WITH DAVITA, AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME OUT AND GIVE ME SOME IDEA OF WHAT TO EXPECT, IS IT A GOOD CO, ARE THE BENEFITS GOOD AND IS IT REALLY ABOUT TEAMWORK?

THANKS

Specializes in CNA,dialysis tech.

I am interested in Dialysis, I live Michigan, and attending a Wayne county community college which have a Hemo-Dialysis program that I will applying to. Could you tell me whats the pay range. The school works with Davita and FMC , thats where they do clinical.

I am not asking because all I care about is money. I just asking for general knowledge and if this would be a good lasting career??/:confused:

I apprecaite all the posts on Davita..I had a phone interview and am suppose to meet with the FA of a local clinic next week. I have decided not to. I was already on the fence based on the fact the 1st 3 months I would be placed at a clinic where I would be REQUIRED to stay in a hotel even if it wasn't too far from my home. The job was posted one way but after the phone interview it was clear it was to be another. My gut tells me this isn't the place for me - esp. w/o any experience in dialysis.

I have worked for DaVita for 3 years and I love it! I read throught the posts and agree that you particualr unit/team can make all the difference, but overall it's a great company to work for. Healthcare has become such a volitile industry, anyone working for a hospital or LTC facility can attribute to that. In the grand scheme of things DaVita focuses on patient care and teammate recognition. How many other companies can say that???:nurse:

Thanks for the positive post. This is 2012 and I do not see any posts for this year. I have an interview on Monday. I hope that I will be working with a positive team and a solid company.

Take a look at some Davita surveys www.qualitysafepatientcare.com This gives an idea about Davita's training / education program as well as ongoing inservices and supervision in facilities

Do folks ever stop to look at the big picture?

No wonder McDialysis chains, and Wal Mart continue to thrive.

Exactly WHAT IS the big picture? Curious - thanks :)

Let us know how your interview will go :) Goodluck! Is it in person or phone interview?

The interview is in person. It is tomorrow. Thanks for the encouragement!

I've worked for Davita for about a month. I have not drank the kool aid yet. However, I have also worked for two for profit hospitals. Davita seems to be no different than those hospitals in the desire to make a profit. There are things that are very frustrating. Things that don't make sense. But, if you have ever worked in a for profit hospital...no different. I enjoy working with my patients and I work in a great clinic with awesome people. I got a minimal raise (everyone did) at the hospital. I get paid more at Davita than I did in the CVICU. I don't have to deal with MD's everyday. I don't have to give bath's, give millions of meds.. I do still work my butt off. It is not an EASY job. Love the hours. The benefits outweigh the negatives for now. That's my opinion.

That is nice to hear. :) Glad to hear some positive comments. I am also eyeing Davita right now, I mostly have med surg experience but no dialysis exp, do you think I have a chance? May I ask how is the hiring process, your co-workers, and nurse patient ratio in your area?
