I HAVE BEEN OFFERRED A JOB WITH DAVITA, AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD HELP ME OUT AND GIVE ME SOME IDEA OF WHAT TO EXPECT, IS IT A GOOD CO, ARE THE BENEFITS GOOD AND IS IT REALLY ABOUT TEAMWORK?

THANKS

LOL, you can kiss :trout: that bonus bah bye!!!!!

And why should your bonueses be based on the patients labs, what if you work in an area of the city where patients are undereducated, drug addicted, and tough to care for and the last thing they think or care about is compliance????you take a financial hit for that??? sounds like a plan for the company to profit from, not the hard working stressed employees.

there seems to be more corruption in privately owned dialysis units than in the ones owned by the hospital.

Specializes in Postpartum, Antepartum, Psych., SDS, OR.

Is there a school Davita sends you to learn all about the Job? If not,is there one to attend independent of any company?

thanks

Cay, Davita just came out with new summer of 2008 guidelines asking for more experience, certifications, etc. That is new so there is still a way to get in and then get sent to thier school. What is your professional level...RN, LPN, or tech. There are some dialysis technician schools programs independent of Davita, we have someone that attented on the west coast.

Let me know more and I will find out for you....:nurse:

Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, NY has a program for Dialysis technician.

Davita is Awful, an Awful hell and every word negative said is true, I can vouch for all of it. They are nothing like the corporate think they are. Dangerous and its like working for a Cult or the Mafia!!!!!! Every FA I met was a Power monger. Unbelievable and heart breaking...

I work for Davita. I can't believe some of the stuff that's going on in other Davita clinics but I believe it happens. Alot of Davita FA's are not really qualified. Davita is overly concerned with "numbers" and money. I agree that one has to be concerned with money when you run a business....but in dialysis patients count also. I love all my patients and most of them can see through management. They can tell who really cares for them and who doesn't. I've been in clinics before too where some teammates leave on the clock to go to the store or to get coffee for others. I just don't think that's right either.

I'm a patient account rep @ Davita and its interesting to read what you guys think about Davita...The clinical side is so different than the billing office...I was thinking of staying with Davita once I get my nursing degree..I dont know though....the no 401k thing is an issue...and I always wonder why there is a high turnover of FA's and social workers....

There are certainly good and bad facilities within all the providers of dialysis - FMC, Davita, Renal Advantage, etc. However, Davita recently, over the last eight months, or so, made national news with several situations. One major one was in Texas where a nurse allegedly administered bleach to patients, however, when the survey results were made public it was, more than, evident that major problems within the delivery of care system were amiss with numerous patients having to go to the hospital. you might be able to read the surveys by going to the Lufkin Daily Newspaper website. I have heard from many that staff are not adequately trained in water treatment and reprocessing procedures. Davita staff have shared that their surveys often identify many incorrect procedures related to reuse. RenalRuth:nurse:

Curious for those of you who have worked for Davita and observed incorrect practices or that which should not be done and have your reported such to the state................of course I am sure anonymously...As RNs we have a responsiblity to be patient advocates and I believe we are as guilty as those who conduct incorrect practices when we do not report such and allow such to continue. To observe and allow to continue harms patients

I am an LPN and I recently went to a DiVita open house. I have never worked in dialysis before but thought it might be a less stressful place to work. We were told that the patient/nurse or patient/tech ratio was 3-1. Were they just lying to us? We were also told that there was alot of down time and during that time we could do any of our continued education. The one thing that surprised me was the 13 hr days. I'd have to get up at 4am to be at work on time. Then you have to go to bed really early to get up that early. If you stay up late on your days off, it just makes it harder on your system to get up again at 4am. How do you all handle that schedule?

Anyway, I just found this forum today and was disappointed to learn that DiVita may not be as good of a company as I thought it might be. I don't know if I still want to pursue a position there.
