Need ideas/suggestions for future nursing career

Hi all! I need help in deciding what I can do with a nursing career. I have been employed as an LPN for four years. I want a management type career. I don't want to be an RN in the true sense of an RN. I don't want to work the hours, weekends, and holidays that are required. I did this at the skilled nursing facility and hated it. It took a toll on my family life, and I will NOT do that again. I have no problem getting my RN if need be. Any ideas or suggestions on what path I should seek. No judgement please only advice. Thank you for your help!

Had a friend get a job in research for a pharmaceutical company for those reasons.

What kind of management, like a nurse manager? I would think you would have to get some RN experience with patient care before you could become a nurse manager.

It would help if you told us what setting you want be a manger in.

Have never done LTC or Acute care and have a great career with no weekends, holidays, etc. You have to be smart and offer solid value and it can happen.

I know I don't want to be a nurse manager. I don't really know what type settings are out there...that is the problem.

Have never done LTC or Acute care and have a great career with no weekends, holidays, etc. You have to be smart and offer solid value and it can happen.

What type of environment do you work in with no weekends and holidays. Hospital or private clinic?

Managers are definitely not exempt from after-hours, nights, weekends, and/or holidays. You may be "off" physically and not at your job; but you still will be responsible for problems and situations that may arise at the job---that is why you are the Manager.

And you need to "pay your dues" before jumping into a position like this. You need acute/bedside experience (which will be during those night/weekend/holiday hours), if you want to be a effective manager.

It is not a piece of cake or something that's going to be easy; even though that's the vibe I get from your post.

Yes, I am aware of this. I in no way, shape, or form said it was going to be easy. I was looking for ideas/suggestions for a pathway. If you can not provide that information please do not reply.

I am just now starting classes for a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration. I don't want to waste my time and money if I can not do something with the degree in the end. Thoughts?

You said you do not want to be a true RN,whatever that means.Like not RN?All administrators in my area were required to return to school to obtain a BSN and MSN..the MSN is minimum for Manager position,plus solid bedside experience.They do have 24 hour responsibility for the goings on in the unit.

You said no nights,weekends,holidays in the health field.....but not an RN or true RN..hmmmmm. Good luck

You know I quit coming to this website for advice, assistance, and help a while back. I have seen the way a lot of people on here attack and criticize posters for no apparent reason. I feel sorry for each of you. Your life must be miserable. I came back needing advice, assistance, and direction hoping that things had changed. Only a few offered words of help. I don't know who else to ask or what to do, but I will definitely never come back here! You people are disgraceful. If you behave, in the real world, as you act on this discussion board, I would be embarrassed to call you my co-worker and friend.
