need help remembering mnemonic for IV needles

Published

Hope someone is able to help me. I read a mnemonic for IV needles that help with which color matches with gauge. I wrote it down but now that I need it, I can't find it. This is what I remember kinda...lol

"green" with envy=larger needle 18 gauge

"true blue"=22 gauge

"if your chicken"=yellow 24 gauge

any help would be appreciated

I promise you after a little while of starting or using IVs, it'll be second nature. Make a point of looking at all your patients sites (you should be doing this anyway), noting the colour and then thinking of the number. Don't worry, it'll come.

Dont worry after exposure you will just know, it is true! Cranial nerves now that needs an acronym!

I always just remember Green Eighteen (they rhyme) and Blue Twenty-Two. And pink's in the middle (20).

I haven't really had to deal with other sizes much.

Forgive me, and I won't type it here, but I know a "dirty" (well, at least anatomically correct!) one that is SOOOO easy to remember!

Why is it that the DIRTY ones are so memorable? I guess I answered my own question, didn't I really?!
