Need help preparing for the Hesi A2 Entrance Exam

U.S.A. Michigan

I bought the study guide but I have heard it is not much help when preparing for this test. I will be taking it in Nov at MCC. I was wondering if anyone bought "Hesi Test Secrets" from Morrison Media. It is $40, but it is worth it?

Any study advice would be appreciated!

Hello everyone,

Ok so I have went through most of the post all of you have put up and I used as much as the info that I could have. It was all very helpful! I have to take my HESI exam on tues and my test will consist of math, vocab, grammer, and reading. I feel as though I have the math down, along with the reading section and most of the vocab. I am a little worried about the grammer section. Do any of you guys have any suggestions? or at least some advice as to which part to focus on? Your help would be greatly appreaciated...

Thanks in advance!

 DON'T worry about the grammar, that is the easiest part! The questions will not make sense or use a different word. Then they will ask you what word was used wrong. Don't worry, you will be fine. If grammar is what you are worried about, you have this in the bag! I was freaking out over the math and I did pretty well! GOOD LUCK!! :):jester:

Ok cool.... So I have been studying from the evolve study guide which was written by the same people who wrote the test. Do you feel that is good enough? And which areas in math do u think I should focus on?

Thx for the well wishes as well

i would learn that math girl. Everything in the math section of that study guide is on the test. Make sure you do the sample problems at the end of each explanation. I didnt have ANY roman numerals and there was like 1 or 2 questions on military time. Know how to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa. Just learn it all and know how to do it all! There are more questions in the back of the book as well. make sure you know how to figure those out too. I got an 82 on the math. We only needed 75%, so I feel I did well. I usually average B's in math. I was freaking out so badly before I took the test. Everyone told me I would do well and I did. Its not that difficult if you know the study guide!

when I took my test, a computer calculator was provided, along with 2 dry erase boards and markers. You'll be fine. Dont overthink things. Do the study guide and go get the test over with! Come back to this board and post that you finished and how you did. :redpinkhe and dont rush. we had 4 hours to finish. I did mine in 3. I took my time. also know liters, cups, gallons, etc. I had a few of those too.

I feel pretty good about the math section. I did all the practice questions with no problems, it was more of a refresher for me. I just need to focus on the unit measurements since they didn't really give n e sample problems with those. Thx for all the advice and I will b sure to u let everyone know how I do!

Hey purplcav, I went and took my test on Tuesday afternoon. I passed every section with a 88% or higher besides the vocabulary section which I missed by two points. I was a lil upset at first until I realized that I still did good. It was probably just simple things that I got wrong. The only thing that I am bothered by is that I have to sit and take the whole thing over again. I thought it was only the sections that I didn't get a passing score on. I guess if they're any other studying materials that I can use besides the Evolve study guide can you please let me know or did you just use the book. Thanks for everything again, I was really putting a lot into it and overthinking everything like you mentioned. Next time around I will be better prepared now I know what to expect.

Monylove84,

I am SO SORRY you have to take it over again! :uhoh3: Another $85! That vocab WAS hard! I remember not even knowing some of the words, but on the ones you dont know, you just have to guess. There is a vocab section in that yellow/blue book, but when I reviewed it, I was pretty familiar with a lot of the words, but the test itself had words that I didnt recall seeing in the book and they were pretty difficult.

If another reader has a suggestion on a different resource, please advise!

How long did the test take? Again, my condolences. :o You'll do better next time! Let me know.

MONYLOVE84,
