Get help now, regardless if they cater to nurses or not. Recovery is the same if your a bum on the street, a nurse or the President.

Here's some links from the Intervention Project for Nurses here in Florida. Perhaps they can help. http://www.ipnfl.org/links.html

Best wishes.

Try the NYSNA website. I found this link that might help.

If I recall correctly, Hazelden has some sort of 'medical personnel' only program that is in Oregon.

If it wasn't them, I do remember for sure that is someone's very well respected program in OR.

Good luck--and I agree---the most important thing is to get going with any program.

I totally agree with Tweety! In my AA homegroup we have plant workers, homemakers, carpenters, a policeman, a physician, a pharmist, a teacher, and 3 nurses. When we are in a meeting no one in any different than anyone else. If you are a drunk then you belong. One of my biggest hurdles when getting sober was looking at all the ways I was different from everyone else. Call your local AA (they are in the phone book) and find a local meeting. Get a sponsor. Make lots of meetings. Get help and get it now! Good luck to you!

I agree with some of the other posters, just get help! It doesn't matter whether they cater to nurses or not. HOWEVER, if you are willing to go to the NYC area, St. Luke's Roosevelt does have a great inpt and outpt. program including one called "Nurses Helping Nurses". They are very familiar with working with addicted nurses.

Good luck!

I recently started outpt treatment for ETOH dependence in the central NY area. There are supposed to be good Outpt centers in Clinton & Rome NY that also have professional groups - I attend one. As for inpatient, I believe Tully Hill has good program and ones geared towards professionals. Good luck. It's a long, tough road ahead at times.:nuke:
