Need Excelsior Clarification

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I am trying to sort out the info for Excelsior & need a little help. Can I get study material from eBay, yahoo, etc & contact Pearson to schedule test dates prior to enrolling. Basically I am looking to do this for the core classes if possible. Also, do I have to pay the $190 (3 credit) $220 (4 credit) & $280 (6 credit) for each exam if I am not purchasing the guided learning material? Can someone please get me very clear cut answers to what I will be "required" to pay for other than the enrollment, application, student services, CPNE, grad fees? Thanks so much for helping me sort out all the options a little clearer! Have a blessed day.

i just talked with ec and they will be offering title iv funding..however, it will not apply to the associate degree nursing program because it is exam based and not semester based.

Yeah, that is what I was afraid of! :(

Wow, I just read through all of these EC threads because I was curious was what out there for an online LPN-RN degree. I was curious if any one knew if EC degrees are accepted by all of the US as far as taking the NCLEX goes? I'd like to thank everyone whose posted so far, your information has been invaluable. It's so great that we can avoid pitfalls by the generosity of information from the people that fell in that pit right before we were about to. I too was spending time looking at the College Network website and am so thankful I found this website in my generalized search for LPN-RN online courses.

Some states don't accept EC ... California comes to mind, and there are certain requirements you have to fulfill in other states in order to practice as an RN there after finishing. Your best bet is to contact Excelsior directly with questions about your state, as well as checking with your state's BON.

Just be sure to check which state you want to work in for licensure/endorement status being an Excelsior graduate. We here in Florida are having alot of problems...

I too had questions about this program .You all have broken it down to basic understanding. Thanks so much :) Just one more question...So you are saying I can do everything through ec and not have to use rue?????

Ok, I'm new to this information about Exclesior and it's Nursing program. I have just completed my 3rd semester of ADN school and am really interested in this program, but have a couple of questions. If I pick up here, how long should it take to complete and how again are the clinical classes handled? This may have been covered in previous post, but I'm not quite sure.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

If you don't have to enroll for NC1-2, how do I go about signing up to take NC1? and where?

Thanks.

Not sure what you need to know - have you been to the excelsior web site? (excelsior.edu) From what I understand, there are testing centers all over, and you don't have to be officially accepted to take the first exam. write back if you need to know more info.

you go to the ec website create an account then pay for the test either nc 1 or nc 2 (remember you don't have to take nc 2 if you are a lvn/pn) then it will give you instructions to the pearson site and you will register with them then schedule your test. note.. i think they charge you extra if you call and schedule the test so do it online if you can.

awesome information y'all. I wish I had found this thread months ago.

I was looking around on the Excelsior site and tried to register for the NC1 but was not allowed to check the box when I got to the page to choose which exam I wanted. Did I do something wrong? Do I need to speak withsomeone at Excelsior before I can register for the exam? Thanks - I love the helpful info from this thread.
