Need some advice

Dear Allnurses members:

I am just licenced as a RN in NY in this April. Now, I am looking for nursing job in Massachusetts. Since I have no friend here who has same visa prblem as I do, I am asking for help form you.

I just graduated from school in Boston this summer. I am urgently seeking for a job which will offer sponsorship for an international student or foreign nurse.

Does anyone know any hospital, human resource agent ,or recruiter would like to provide sponsorship in "Massachusetts, USA"??

Please be kind to let me know. Your kindly help will be very much appreicated.

Have you endorsed to MA yet? Do you have an OPT?

Yes, I do have OPT visa right now.

The MA license endorsement is now under processing.

You are not looking for sponsorship, that means a temporary work permit and they no longer exist. You want a petition to be able to be submitted for you.

Has your OPT started yet? You do not need a petitioner for that.........you have the document that will permit you to work legally. Is that where you are coming up with problems?

thank you very much for your answer. My OPT visa has already kicked off in this month. That means my time is ticking away. Since I want to saty in US after my OPT visa expired, I still have to find a sponsor want can file greencard applicaiton for me. As I know that nurses are qualifed to apply greencard, is that correct? In case I will decide to stay in US after one year, it is bett for me to ensure that I can get sponsorship in the first place.

Do you by any chance know any hospital in Massachusetts do sponsorship??

Until now, I can't find anyone and the result is really frustrating.

Please do not use the word sponsorship, that is what I am trying to tell you. If you do, you will not find one facility that will let you in the door. That brings up horrid memories of when the H1-B visas were still available and were major headaches for the facility, You want to be petitioned. And that only. Right now, I would focus on getting a job as soon as you can, and worry about the petitioning afterwards. The petition part only requires a couple of documents completed by the facility, the immigration attorney does the rest.

Perhaps, if you speak to an immigration attorney first. But by using the work sponsprship, you will get a NO each and every time. It is the "kiss of death" when you are applying.

I did talk to an immgration attorney yesterday,who also suggested me that I should find an employer beofore the end of this month. It seems that this month is the last chance to file greencard petition. (I don't know if it is the right term). I feel so bad about all the suitation. I will try very hard to get hired before. You do not have until the end of the month, we do know for sure that there are no visas for next month, but no one knows when they will be gone this month. When they are, USCIS will come out with a statement that of that day, they are no longer accepting petitions for AOS. The remaining visas are definitely not going to last until the end of this month, that is wishful thinking. I suspect only another few days at the most.

you keep saying that there are no visas for next month, do you really mean that? from nvc bulletin that says something different from yours, there is a cut off date on nov. from oct.1, 2005, and bring the number to 50,000 by then. if as you said, " only another few days", then why don't nvc just erase sch.a from visa bulletin next month?

the lawyer explain the same way as the nvc.

issue: the schedule a workers category has become oversubscribed for november and a cut-off date established to hold number use within the 50,000 numerical limit. it is expected that demand will bring allocations up to the program limit during november. once the limit is reached no further allocations will be possible, and the category listing will be removed from future cut-off date tables.

how do you understand this?

Well, I just can say the US laws are not easy to understand at all. My school career service center director told me that there are always greencard available for nurses becuase US needs thousands of nurses to work here. I really have no ideal who I am going to trust. Desperate is the only world I can use to describle my feelings. Now I just hope some miracles will happen to me.

there are not always greencards for nurses, there are processes to go through and at the moment they are running out of visas. The best is talk to an immigration lawyer who specialises in nurses and what is posted on immigration websites, once visas gone it becomes a waiting game until more visas are released
