What was your course or degree before? Usually the duration of the nursing degree for second coursers depend on the degree or course they have finished..The transcript of records will be evaluated by the school and tell you how many of the subjects will be credited..Average duration 2 years for those with MD degrees..Other allied professions takes ave. of 3 years. Perpetual Help College of Manila has a program for second coursers, Dr. Carlos Lantin, La Sallete under Jose Reyes,JP Sioson Gen.. to name a few..But your TOR will have to be evaluated first before admission to the school to determine how long you will have to take the program..
hope this helps..:wink2:

thanks, nurse_md...
that's a drop in the bucket compared with how much int'l students (f1 visa) pay in the us (12 units= $3500 to 4k). plus you're getting a bsn acceptable in the us (credit goes to our kababayan nurses for proving so...). unless there's a pressing concern to come to the us, it would be cost-efficient to study in the philippines.

^ i agree. my school charges $267 per credit for international students. ouch.
i'm a nursing-as-a-second-degree student too. i just graduated last december 2005. my first degree is physical therapy. when i came here, little did i know that the process of taking the PT boards will take a year or two. i didnt have that much time so i opted to change my status to student visa and the rest, they say, is history.

for lanting 15thou for non-allied 2nd coursers, for allied 25 thou above (not so sure). I am a non-allied 2nd courser. though for this last sem it increased 5 thou coz we have an in-house review for the local board.

what does "non-allied.." or "non-allied.." mean? thanks..
non-allied means non-health related courses like business management, accounting, computer-science, etc. while allied courses are dentistry, med tech, doctors in short.

i see. so it means if you had a first degree in an "allied" course (medical?) you should be spending less (and less time, too) to get a nursing degree?
but any which way, even if it's $25k per sem, you're still saving a lot of money by getting your nursing degree in the phils. quality may be subject to many challenges but if you take your studies seriously as a student, i don't see any major problem there. after all, the school doesn't take nclex for you....
