NCTC ADN Fall 2014

Published

I just wondering if there are others out there applying this May for the Fall 2014 class. I just found out I have everything to apply at NCTC but with a B in A&P I I only have 10 points and I'm not sure if I will make the cut. Anyone else?

Congratulations!!

I'll see you all on 8/19! I was accepted into the hybrid transition class. I just need to get an MMR booster (can't find proof of a second dose), a physical exam, and all my paperwork together for immunitrax.

Also, I am hesitant to buy the scrubs just yet. Last time I went to NCTC for nursing, I also did the hybrid program (but for LVN) and they decided to do different colored scrubs than the in-seat class. I will go try Landau scrubs on for size and fit, and prepare to expedite ship an order if needed, unless someone can confirm with 100% certainty that the hybrid students will definitely need reds and whites (and how many of each?).

I live in the north part of Lewisville by Flower Mound and am interested in carpooling with hybrid transition students or others if we happen to have the same class schedule.

I am intensely curious as to which work days I will need to drop for in-person class, because it will cause a disruption in my home health patient's school schedule until they find a replacement nurse and get

him/her through the ISD background

check.

What else... I didn't read about the degree audit requirement (or thought I had it covered already), so when I was told to request it, I went ahead and mailed a cover letter with the request form. I stuck it in my home mailbox at 4pm yesterday, and received a phone call at 2pm letting me know it was completed! Now that's a fast turnaround.

I also ordered my books online Sunday and received them Tuesday. I considered piecing them out online, but for a two-year program, $780 for print and electronic textbooks is a steal. My LVN program books cost more.

Oh last thing - I finally caught up on this thread and noted talk about writing out all greeting cards in advance. Look into SendOutCards. I have a contact who can walk you through it. If you have ever designed anything like a collage or scrapbook page or handmade card, this is the solution for you. I sent out dozens of Christmas cards in ten minutes flat. They included several photos of my family and some personalization for specific family members. The cost per card was somewhere around $1including shipping I think -- you never handle a stamp, and you can send in a handwriting sample to create your own font for $25. The site also sends you reminders when someone's birthday or anniversary approaches ... And you can set it up to auto-send if you want to create a card in advance. Ok, I am dropping the mic. Thanks for hanging in there! Night, all.

Has anyone done immunitrax yet? The to do list with our packet says we have to submit health insurance when accepted. Do we submit it to school or in immunitrax?

I submitted mine on Immunitrax.

Thanks, I'll do the same.

I completed my Immunitrax yesterday and it was approved and accepted. Insurance goes on there. If you log on, there is a list under immunizations that tells you what you need to put on there. Fortunately, it was fairly easy and they actually verified all my stuff very quickly!

Remama my books were over $1000, there was a list of books on the bottom of the webpage that were required in addition to the books that come with the package. I had to select among different books to chose the books I wanted - I went with the higher rated books. Did you see those? Is it different for the transition students?

@TWishes, did you order the first option on that major books paper? What where the other required books on the site?

Stevebeuke - I did...that first option lists the books included in package 1 which also says it doesn't include the study guides. There was a list of required books on the webpage to pick and chose from that I assume were the study guides! The other required books in addition to the package are listed on the site to chose from are, copied and pasted below...
