NCTC ADN Fall 2014

Published

I just wondering if there are others out there applying this May for the Fall 2014 class. I just found out I have everything to apply at NCTC but with a B in A&P I I only have 10 points and I'm not sure if I will make the cut. Anyone else?

I filled out the Immunitrax form and had my nurse practitioner sign it when I went for my physical. For things I had not completed, I left blank like the flu shot. However, my Immunitrax was approved and accepted.

B.O.N. Has pretty quick turn around, just over a week after fingerprints and got my blue card in the mail today!

Really, I did mine the day after I got my packet. I will be looking for mine!

For CPR you will get the cert card at the end of the class, so you can fax or upload it to immunitrax that day.

My CPR expires 9/2015, so I am renewing it at orientation. A day off work costs more than the cpr class, and I don't want to kick myself in a year for not getting that out of the way.

I went to Scrubs, Etc. in Lewisville today. They are having a summer sale through Sunday. The red Landau top was

mckinneygrl: They told me I was alternate #1 and they called me last Wed to tell me someone backed out & I was in! Have you heard anything yet?

So, I will talk a bit about books since that seems to be a hot topic!

The pharmacology book and medical calculations book (which is your math book) can be bought online for super cheap. I think I got both of mine off of AbeBooks and spent $5 total. Those other books aren't study guides, but they are ''your choice' and can be bought online for a steal. You won't need them until a few weeks into school since they are used for clinical and not for lecture, so there isn't a gigantic rush to get them. You use them to look up your drugs and make care plans for the patients you work with in clinical. There is a box of books in the bookstore (should be at least) that has all of the books you need for class. These are the Fundamentals and MedSurg type books and they come with study guides and online tools, etc. The fundamentals book is where you will spend most of your time in first semester.

Also, there will be a scrub store on campus the day of orientation. They sell scrubs, stethoscopes, penlights, etc. So, that can be an option for some of you that want to get it all at once.

Has anyone else received their bluecard? I had my prints done about two weeks ago...literally done the day after I received my packet! Stevebeuke, are you an LVN already? Is that why yours came so fast...just wondering if I need to call and check.

I still haven't received mine and did mine a few days after my packet as well!

I did mine the Monday after the ninth. Got it exactly one week later, no I'm generic program. I am also a former Marine... So the FBI already has my info and prints? May had something to do with it.

Ok, that makes sense - thanks!

The blue card takes a long time!
