NCLEX Tomorrow

Published

I am getting ready to take my NCLEX RN tomorrow and am extremely nervous. Any last minute tips? For preparation so far I have used: Saunders, Kaplan Strategy Book, PDA, and NCSBN.

Just focus during the exam :) im taking mine on tuesday. How was your scores in kaplan q trainers?

I didn't purchase the kaplan program. I only did the strategy book and online q trainers. For #6 I got a 75% and #7 was a 70%

You got this! I took mine on Thursday and did Kaplan and passed! I got 75 questions and was so surprised how much easier it was than Kaplan! I got 70 on q6 and q7 so u are golden! The Pearson vue trick worked too so do that when u get home to get a little peace! Good luck!

Be confident in yourself. Try not to second guess your decisions.

Melly0104- congratulations! I hope i get the same news! I am just unsure because I didn't actually do the Kaplan program, just the strategy book of theirs and the qtrainers I found through google, so I am hoping they are the same ones that are in the current kaplan program. I also did not have access to the q bank!

Since your taking it tomorrow, all the experts suggest taking the day before the test off. Do something for you.

My suggestions

1. EAT breakfast (whether or not your test is in the morning) and make it good one. Tomorrow is not the day for a donut or sugary breakfast cereals. Try eggs, oatmeal, fruit, yougurt etc. You may be in for the long haul with the test and you don't want to go in hungary!

2. Be at the testing facility at least 1/2 hr before your scheduled testing time. You need time to be registered in. Add in travel time for possible delays such as accidents, road work etc. Know how to get to the facility and keep the directions with you.

3. Try to get a good nights sleep tonight. I know you'll probably toss and turn but get to bed earlier than you normally do.

4. Hydrate yourself before you go in! You are not allowed to bring any drinks etc with you into where the testing computers are. But try to avoid beverages that act as diuretics (coffee, soda etc). Water is best.

5. Try to relax. I know! I know! Easier said than done.

6. Bring a sweater, zip up hoodie, etc with you. I don't tend to be bothered with a cool room but the testing room was cool and sitting at the computer not being able to move round made the coolness seem even cooler.

7. Don't freak out if the computer doesn't shut off at the minimum number (85 for LPN, 75 for RN). I did! Bad! And it really did affect how I was answering the following questions. I figured, great more than 75, I'm doing badly...why bother. DON"T DO THAT! As our Kaplan instructor said, "take every question they give you as an opportunity to show them what you now'. She also said, the computer hasn't given up on you, don't give up on yourself! People pass at the full range of quesions, 75, 75, 83, 119, 223, or the full test.

8 If the questions seem to be getting just harder and harder! That's a good sign! You are answering them correctly so the computer then assigns a question slightly harder than the next.

I took it Thursday, did the PVT in the parking lot of the facility...good pop up, found out yesterday w/Quick Results I passed. (133 questions, 1 hr 15 minutes, 17 or better SATA, lots of put these in order, question after question of who do you see first/call first, delegation and management)
