***sharing my resources:***

-pda by lacharity

-saunders 5th and cd-content and questions

-study manual from school-content, briefly goes over some things, used -saunders for more detail and content

-nclex 4000-questionskaplan qtrainers found online-did some of these the last -week before today. i did tests 1,2,5,6,7, scored 60-70s

-also the study guide not by all nurses, reviewed that a few times.

i started studying in july after a 2 week trip. didn't study at all till i got back. like 7-8 weeks after graduation. i felt like i knew nothing!! i dedicated all of july to studying. seriously a whole month.

all my classmates took it early and passed. i was one the last to take it.

family nagged me galore when i was going to take it, i said 'later, not telling you'

**i still felt like i knew nothing a few days before my exam. i was worried that i'd forget everything i learned. so scared!!!!

**on the exam, i recognized a lot of things and i didn't recognize a lot of things. i left like i thought i failed. literally. i felt like i was dying. my mind was blank all the way home.

****for those of you who are going to test....remember to breathe!!!

omg remember to breathe. i did about 23435465356t4 times during it. i literally sat back in my chair, closed my eyes and breathed deeply for like 1 minute. i got anxious at almost each question, but i breathed, chose one and moved on. i probably looked like a fool to the proctor watching me lol***

i was scared, i felt my pulse, it was weak, rapid, and i felt extremely dizzy. i raised my hand, breathed, walked out, got water, went back, felt like i was about to die, closed my eyes, breathed, and did like 5 more questions and it went blue.

i thought i failed. my mind went numb!

good luck to those who are testing! days before today, in every post i made, i ended it with

'i will pass, i will be an rn!!!'

i suggest you do it too! it boosts your confidence!!!

breathe, do lots of questions, read and know your content. you will walk out like you died/failed/want to puke/punch someone in the face!!!

i did. and guess what. good pvt!!!!! you will too. :)

:)

:)

it feels sooo soo good to type this post and share my story with you all!!! thank you for those who shared yours too. inspired me and many others! i hope this post can inspire those who have yet taken it and to those who didnt pass their previous attempts

:)

you will pass you will be an rn or pn!!!

My heart is beating so fast I have 6 more days left. Its my turn to ask....What did you guys do 6 days before the exam???? I have been writing notes on stuff I should reread before the exam... :D 3 notebooks and a whole yellow pad, post it all over the house. omg what was I thinking. Should I just keep doing questions???

Congratulationsssssssss! I'm so happy for you, funny you totally described how I felt during every single test while in school lol.

6 days before the exam I re-read my Kaplan book and did questions. I read carefully every time something came up in the book that I didn't remember, things I remembered I only skimmed. My last few Kaplan question trainer scores were 70, 70, 70, 68, 75. By that point I was having a lot of stomach trouble (my stomach acts up when I am under extreme stress), so I took the last two days off to recover.

One thing I started doing that I haven't seen suggested here is after every 25th question I stopped, moved my hand away from the mouse, took a deep breath and let the previous 25 questions go. You can't change your answers and regretting an answer isn't helpful. I didn't start on the next 25 until I felt centered again. On question 75 I said to myself "ok, if it goes to 76 you are not going to panic. If it shuts off after this question you are not goign to panic. You are going to remain calm, use your tools, and keep going". I hope this helps!

thanks!!!!

6 days before, i did kaplan tests found online/google and the study guide posted here not by allnurses.

i read each rationale. but i didnt do all of the sample tests.

nurse671 I have to say that studying for this was the worst. I did not know where to begin to study, I read my saunders book for content well not the entire book cuz I just could not do it. I did Kaplan questions which did not not look nothing like my exam. I basically did process of elimination and Prayed. I was calm and relaxed which is hard to do but I felt I did all that I could do and there is no reason for me to panic. 6 days before the exam I reviewed my notes did some question and tried to relax (easier said than done). The exam is not so bad, know your content and you will be fine.

Hey, I took my test monday. I just got my results today... I passed....

I left thinking i would not pass also. I had alot of those SATA questions think about 20. I also had a ton of infection control question. I did not end up having any calculation questions. I left the testing site and could not do anything for hours because i was sure i did not pass it. LOL

My nightmare is SATA'S personally and am gonna be taking my boards sometime next week, am praying that i don't bomb on those.Does anyone have ideas on Sata's? i remember during class tests, i would get say 88% and the majority of my wrong answers were SATA, am so afraid and i also want to ask if anyone can give me some final tips on how they passed the boards, i've been out of class since june 18 and now am scared that am taking my boards late.

It's all about learning how to be comfortable with SATA's and not about memorizing every little piece of information. You can use programs like NCLEX 4000 to practice answering SATA question which of course is also supplemented by reading books as well.

thanks everyone!!

personally i was AFRAID of satas. you may or may not have noticed all my posts that i posted on everyones topics who passed about how many satas they had lol, because i AM scared of them.

i used what everyone suggested. treat each option as true and false

on the exam today, i covered each option with my hands and only focused on 1 at a time and asked myself is this true or false?

that helped a lot.

but i know i got some of my satas wrong :\

be confident!!!!

Congrats!! I knew you could do it!!
