NCLEX Test Prep Materials

Wondering how many different prep materials people usually purchased to prepare for the NCLEX?

Also, any opinions (good, bad) on the following providers -

ATI

Elsevier

Kaplan

NLN

Hurst

Thanks in advance!

I took Kaplan review..I think it really helped me pass NCLEX(I passed it in first try...)..I was an average student in nursing school....i like the way their questions were worded....i took live session....the only thing i did not like was that I did not learn anything from their 4 days live classes...but I loved the question bank and question trainers...

Also, I have some study material that I can give you if you like....and good luck for NCLEX..

Most people are successful using one resource, or at most three. You will find them saying they were successful using Saunders Comprehensive Review, the Linda LaCharity book on prioritization, and the Kaplan review book for test taking strategies. Those who take review courses often recommend Kaplan or Hurst. Those are the most popular study resources.

hey...can i get sum of the study material so.....i plan on takin my nclex in september

I would def suggest buying the books used if you can, I spent a fortune and now I am selling them all online for a fraction of what I paid. Wish I did that!

I would also recommend buying only what you plan to use, I bought everything, and used only a few of the books. I used Exam Cram for my comprehensive Review the table D in the back with the most common meds was great, but I hated their CD. I used the Saunders CD w questions, and I used the LaCharity book. I also tried some of the questions in the Davis book, they were much harder than the other books, so I didnt do a lot from that book. I bought but never opened the Saunders comprehensive book (just used the CD from it), the Kaplan book, & Davis Comprehensive.

I would suggest buy only what you will use (you wont need more than one comprehensive book) and buy the newer versions used online instead of spending all of your money :)

I passed in 75 questions, with these:

Exam Cram

Lacharity

Saunders

I used Kaplan (the RN Course Book), Saunders, and the random fact-throwing thread on this forum and I passed
