If you will be taking NCLEX and would like to be prayed for, can we start a fourm for this. I know that some folks are not into prayer and I don't want to offend anyone, but I sure need it!
This will be my first NCLEX test. I am a Canadian RN with 23 years experience in MED/SURG I have used Kaplans Q Bank, I understand a book by Saunders, NCLEX Review is a good book to use.
My sitting date is Nov10th so I have a month to study. Any words of wisdom out there for me, I would greatly appreciate.
Thank you, Sincerely, Anxious, and Nervous

Something I've heard from LPNs and CNAs with years of experience similar to yours who get ready to take the NCLEX-RN is to not let your actual clinical experience interfere with how you answer questions. What might be done at a particular unit in the real world may not be what is considered correct at the "NCLEX hospital." With that in mind, doing tons and tons of questions (I think I did at least 3000) helped me pass on my first try in 75 questions. Good luck! After 23 years as a nurse in Canada, I'm sure you have the knowledge-all you have to do now is get ready for a standardized test.
I know before I took the exam I narrowed down to two to three study materials. I used Exam Cram and Kaplan(In my opinion the structure for both materials regarding the test taking skills for adaptive testing was similiar) I could have used just one of thesed to study for the testing structure. The study material on the subjects I used Saunders. I just stuck to the basics and I am glad that i didnt pay a lot of money to do it. Some people have to really find out what works for them. I took the NCLEX for PN and passed on the first try (Oct 8 2008) with 205 questions. I thought I failed because majority of what I studied was not on the test. But I think when you know how to test that helps tremendously. I am the worst test taker but I think you just have to breath (which is easier said than done) and you will be alright!!. Good luck to everyone and my prayers are with you!

Hello carlee,
I agree with jewel100 the more questions the better. When I started to prepare for NCLEX-RN, I was working and had been all the way through nursing school to develop my skills and to get adjusted to the way the medical units day would flow. I ended up quitting my job because I was pulling in my work experience when answering the questions. Believe me in the NCLEX PERFECT WORLD this does not work, so be careful. I am not saying to quit your job but realize the NCLEX WORLD IS THE PERFECT WORLD. I am just passing on what hindered my learning in the beginning.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!:redpinkhe

I am a living proof that prayer is the most powerful tool, I myself thought I failed the NCLEX that I took last Sept 2008, because I answered max questions (265).. but then when I got my letter, I PASSED!!! first thing came in to my mind it was all God's work.. To all fellow Nurses who took the exam,, have faith and keep on praying... Good luck to all
...Have you completed the first tip? If so then send Suzanne a pm in the format she requests (see sticky) making sure you include all information requested. To send a pm click on her name and then select send private message in the drop down box
If may I suggest, I just took the NCLEX last September 2008 and PASSED, I used HELEN FEUER it helped me a lot and the most important thing is prayers and faith... goodluck to all
so, i need to get back in the studying groove. i have until nov 15 (the 45 day time in b/t tests) to prepare myself once again. i am not certain on how i want to approach studying this time. i have done the mosby cards..read over the kaplan book, plus looked through books to refresh my brain with nursing material. i checked out the helen feuer website...it seems like a good plan. the cost is a little ridiculous...but what isn't anymore. i cannot keep taking this test and getting results that state "near the passing standard" within all the sections of nursing. please help!

hello lilpal1,
first of all, you need to give yourself a break and then start studying again. check out suzanne's plan but you need to allow 45-50 days just for her plan not counting the saunder's review under tip#1. why is your deadline so close?:nuke:

i have taken the test numerous times and don't want to push it off any longer than is needed. I graduated May 2007 and have been trying for over a year now to pass it. It's not that I don't understand the info...I just can't get passed those ?'s; I have the saunder's book I am going to give it a try with that first...bc I can't afford the feuer program. I have heard good things about suzanne's plan..
