Nursing Students NCLEX

So I have been studying for the NCLEX-RN about 3 weeks and for some reason I’m not even close to where I need to be and my exam is 3 weeks away. I’m using uworld as a study tool and I listen Mark klemik audios. I do about 30 questions per day and review the rationales when I’m done and I also take notes on both the ones I get right and wrong which takes me all day. However, I feel I’m not getting it because I’m still not able to retain and interpret the information. I don’t know what more I need to do. I’m so anxious, I’m wondering if I should do a content review like hurst but it’s so pricey. I know if I should take the exam anytime soon I would fail. Please, I need help.

If you feel like you are not ready then change your date, It is free to do so. If you feel you need content review then you have a two options,,, invest the money for the materials you need to pass or possibly donate $200 to Pearson to retake the NCLEX, I would prefer to do the review then to fail it and have to repay to take it. Just food for thought.

Good Luck!

You can always reschedule, it's free. I believe having a good foundation with your content review is as important as your test taking skills.

Hey! How is it going? I'm not sure if you have already taken the NCLEX? Either way, I took the NCLEX and did not pass, and I felt the same way as you before I took it: Did not feel prepared and did not know whether to extend the date. I would say EXTEND the date and review the content until you feel comfortable taking the test. The anxiety before taking a test is different from the anxiety that you feel you have not prepared enough (this one is usually true). Anxiety over not being ready on the content will not do good for you on the nclex. Trust me. I have been there. Does your school have any software that they use? You can obtain discount from them, mine used ATI, and they offered me discount after my expiration date has passed. It's 80% off. $500-> $100. If not, I would say get one of those content review book like Saunders. I heard Saunders have good content review as well as QB.

I’m so sorry to hear that u have failed. I literally feel your pain. That’s my biggest fear, I still haven’t taken it since I have yet to receive my ATT. I think I need a content review, but I literally can’t afford one right now! My school to didn’t provide us with a content review, I wish they did! I don’t know what to do because time is winding down

Awwwww.... You know what, you can do it. Everybody is different. Maybe just need to take some breaths and relax? ?

Hello! So I am currently using UWorld and Kaplan, I find UWorld super helpful in the rationals and I do them most often. I found out that by taking my time and reading every rationals, my scores on the Kaplan prep have increased. When I read the rationals I will write down the concept in my own words and in a shorter paragraph because you will most likely not get the same exact question again but knowing the concept is what is key. I would recommend doing ~100 questions a day, and I honestly end up doing around 200 and I take my test in two weeks. I recently just took the computer adaptive test on Kaplan and got the green light which was comforting. When I started studying for the NCLEX with these two preps I felt honestly unprepared, but with consistency in doing questions and trying to understand the broader/general topic I feel more comfortable now. I would not reschedule your test! I think you've got it, you just haven't found your study groove yet.

I previously failed at 197 questions. Since then I took a 3 day kaplan in-person review course, this course taught me how to automatically effortlessly eliminate a boatload of wrong answers--many of which I likely would have selected as the correct answer prior to taking the course. I just retook the exam 3 months later (today) did the PVT, and got the good popup. The exam went the distance, question # 264 was a SATA. after it was over I did not know if I passed or failed. Keep doing questions, the questions ARE the content. Kaplan and Uworld are both good. I still have close to 2k worth of unanswered questions in kaplan. What I am about to say may not be politically correct, but many of the questions are near impossible to know which one to pick, even when armed with the correct knowledge. You do not have to know everything, you just need to get enough questions right to pass. Most things I don't know. Just being honest. Hope this helps.

I feel your pain. I did my EXAM first attempt in may 2018 and i failed miserably....at 75 questions. I am a registered nurse in my country. I didn't felt confident going into the exam but i went anyway. I knew i failed before i was even finished....and the worse thing about it, the questions were so easy, but i didnt know the content at all. I bought a kaplan book online and i didnt even bother to open it. I also used UWORLD but it didn't help at all. Bare in mind i had a young child to work with plus study.

After that horrible feeling my boyfriend encouraged me...he took our daughter to his mom so i could study...I ATTACKED the nclex...we literally fought. He would ask me questions... I even reach to the point to start reading question and rationales to the baby. So i decided to take the exam this year june the13th. I got my ATT one week before and jus booked the ticket. I decides i was not waiting no more.... I packed and i decided i wasnt leaving without a pass.

I went to the exam room at 7am and i started at 8. There were about 10 or more persons there to test. The last thing i glanced at was my absolutes n how to eliminate them....it did help.....lab values....staffing....i even say a couple of questions from UWORLD. when i came out of the exam i was smiling. I have no doubt of failure. I knew i had pass....i bought UWORLD for 4mnths and kept renewing the app. UWORLD helped. And saranatregisterednurse.Com. ohhhh and before you do UWORLD know your content. It will mess you up.

Anything is possible. If i can do it the entire world can. I did 100 questions and the last one was soo easy. It was n insulin question...which was already on uworld... Keep the faith. U will make it..stay strong...god never gives us more than what we can bare....

I am now in the process of leaving with an agency but it is taking forever. Does anyone know of the time frame that one takes to relocate to USA using and agency?

Thanks for the response. My exam is on Wednesday and I’m so nervous. I still don’t feel prepared, but then I’m also so exhausted from all this studying. I’ve been out of school for about 3 or so months and I have been studying on and off since that time. I just want it to be over. Congratulations tho, I’m happy for you. As for the agency portion, I’m not sure about that

I can’t reschedule. The exam is tomorrow, it is too late at this point.
