NCLEX-RN; Terrified

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I just received notification for my "ticket to test".

I am soooooo paranoid my scores on uworld have been 50-60's. I was doing adaptive tests on the Lippincott NCLEX-RN PassPoint Prep-U.. my mastery is a 7 (i fluctuate between 6-8). I had been stressing very hard lately because I have a job and a house contingent on me passing this and my school had submitted the wrong ssn when they submitted my name well over a month ago (which has been a freaking disaster) and I basically need to take this test asap. My Kaplan scores Trainer1: 52, Trainer2L 56, Trainer3: 45, NCLEX Practice1: 68, NCLEX Practice2: 48, Who do you see 1st: 70. I am beyond terrified, and not really sure how I feel about my scores, or how I feel about taking the NCLEX. I was wondering how I am measuring up to people who have taken and passed the NCLEX.

How long did this take you to prepaper for NCLEX? Did you read your notes?

Blenderbottle, I took my pre reqs over 30 years ago, then 1.5 years of nursing school ended in 2015 the final 6 months ended in 2017. what really killed me the first time around in addition to being content weak was not really understanding the strategy of NCLEX. its like you have to march to the beat of their drum.

oh, it took while to become a nurse. Good job.

ty blenderbottle yes, has been a long time, lol. when i was taking prereqs, that was around the time when personal computers were first rolled out and into the hospitals. with pc charting, many nurses with years of experience were getting laid off. job prospects for that field were not looking too good. Then client deaths were increased significantly, and the same bean counters took notice. Over the years the pendulum has swung back and fourth several times regarding the need for more nurses. I had other careers, but i think i will love nursing.

For people who pass nclex with uworld, did you memorize all content from youworld?

I am making short note about everything I do not know, I was wrong about. For example : development hid displasia - I made note how to perform Barlow and Ortani test. I went through 900 questions and I have about 200 notes (small notes 2-3 word so i can remember vocabulary or specific drug)

my question is did you memorize every piece of information from uworld?

I used uworld but took no notes. I read and remembered the concept. I read all rationales right or wrong. I was pressed for time and only completed 625 questions of the 2100 qbank. I did the 1st assessment and scored a 73% very high chance of passing, answered a lot of questions and took the 2nd assessment 2.5 weeks later (with a week long vacation in the middle) and scored 91% very high chance of passing. Finished the NCLEX in 75 questions in about an hour. It's really going to be very dependent on your learning style. Reading the rationales took me long enough, I would have never had time to write things down, too. Good luck!

i started preceptorship in my school in july and finished in august (i was in an accelerated program). I took NCLEX a week or two ago and studied just about every single day, almost all day. And I actually never read my notes after I wrote them honestly.

Thank you so much for your responses. I plan to study for 6-7 weeks, I plan to go through 75- 100 question each day I study from 8 am until 5 pm than rest and 2 more hours just review my notes.

I base my study on Mark Klimenk recomendations - I fee like I know by heart every word he was saying over 3 days review

Just watch out you dont get test fatigue. I found that if I studied for a large part of the day that my scores dropped towards the end. Make sure you take breaks!

I totally agree with this post. Blenderbottle 75-100 questions daily are a lot. I just took the nclex and passed with 75 questions, I was an average student. I used UWORLD for a month and focus on the rationales more than the number of questions done and I took breaks...because it is much needed. Good luck

The testimonies are encouraging .I thank you so much for these wonderful sacrifices. They really worth it .good luck
