Nclex-RN shut down at 85

Nursing Students NCLEX

hi. i took the Nclex Rn today, it shut down at 85. Is there anyone here shut down at the same number and passed? because most of the time i heard they shut down at 75 or 265. thank you

I'm taking a guess that you know very little about the NCLEX...? The minimum number of questions on the RN exam is 75, the minimum number for the PN is 85. Maximum is 265 (RN, anyway, not certain of PN).

At any rate, why would you be certain you would only receive the minimum number of questions? Are you THAT confident that it wasn't possible to get more? Or did you not realize that the possibility existed to go for another 190 questions?

Can't know if you passed or failed, BUT if you really are that confident that you would be certain to pass in 75 questions.....maybe it just took 85 for the computations to put you into "pass" mode.

I hope so!

From other posts, OP did not pass the last time around.

what i understand the nclex will shut off only on 75 or 265, am i wrong?

what i mean is i want to get more questions. and i didn't hear that some people shut down at 85, when i i was on number 76 i thought i would continue to get more questions. right now the pearsonvue website is shutdown.

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you are saying here. Maybe someone else understands...?

No it can shut down anywhere in between 75 and 265. If shut off at 85 chances are very good that you passed. The test gives you chances to pass.

according to Kaplan the average person does 120-150 questions

It amazes me that people go write the exam without knowing how CAT works. :/

Per NCSBN FAQ

What is the average number of items tested per candidate?

In 2012, the average number of items (questions) administered per candidate was around 119 on the NCLEX-RN and 117 on the NCLEX-PN.

The number of questions you get does not determine PASS or FAIL! You can PASS/FAIL with 75 or PASS/FAIL with 265.The computer determines when you are competent enough and shuts off...or when u are totally bombing & having no chance of passing and shuts off..either or:yes:

You can get any amount of questions between 75-265 and PASS or Fail! Good Luck!

ok thank you for the info.... :)
