NCLEX- RN; my 3rd try....

Published

Hello everyone! I always go on this site and read people's posts and comments; I find it very informative and interesting. I just became a member a few minutes ago, and this is actually my first post. Like most of this site's users..I am re-taking my NCLEX RN exam in Dec. for the 3rd try. I am so worried, and scared to fail again. I used to work full time when i took my previous exams where I flunked. Then, I just got recently laid-off.. (how sad...) but then, I think this will give me an ample time to gather myself and review and be more focused this time. Pls. help me which review program or strategies would be effective? Your suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time, I'm just worried and hoping that my next job will be in the hospital as an RN. :nurse:

Sorry, but I do not agree with you. You should be not getting any math questions on your exam in most cases. The Board is very aware that all that have made it thru their nursing program have had to pass the math exam or they are removed from school.

Each exam is different, and they are not related. You need to prepare as if you have never tested before, not just trying to add on specific areasd.

Best of luck to you.

i'd agree with suzanne4 although you may seem to find some trend with the exams you previously took, you can never predict what's coming out so don't just focus on certain topics. Like what my instructors at Kaplan told me "NCLEX is testing minimum competence" and you must know at least a little bit of something and just to be safe you gotta know them all. of course i'm not expecting everyone to memorize books what i'm saying is that you oughta study hard for the exam, understand the concepts and learn how, when, where to apply them and to whom they apply to. i myself am currently preparing for an exam - CGFNS/NCLEX. i'm getting anxious lol... coz my CGFNS CP exam is on Nov 12 and it's like a few more weeks away... sigh.

hey sorry vonte' i'm kinda new to this site... you said you're a foreign nurse as well and is planning to go to the US that's why you're taking up the nclex correct? i don't mean to discourage you or destroy or dream or something like that but with the retrogression still in effect, i'd suggest you make other plans like if US is your plan A then why not try countries in Europe as plan B. i myself am thinking about it coz having relatives in the US cannot guarantee me anything at all so after my exams (hopefully i pass with just one take) and taking up all the experience i need, i'm seriously considering going to New Zealand. Oh and regarding the tips on passing the nclex, my only tip would be to study every concept by heart. no one can predict what will come out of the exam so better equip yourself with everything you got and not just focusing on things you heard came out of the last exams or you thought would come out. it's hard to study and work that's why i had to quit to focus on my studies coz it'll worth it anyway (if you pass the exams that is, that's why you need to focus coz the exam ain't cheap... i don't know for you but for me the exam is pricy...)

good luck and God Bless

How do you get to Suzannes' plan? I find it hard to find.

it is in the sticky selection of the main NCLEX forum.

Thank you all for your warm welcome! I appreciate it! I am really interested in Suzzane's plan, as I read the member's post and especially those who passed...I am trying to understand how can I be able to have access to it. I am planning to re take my test in DEC 15. I am currently reviewing the Saunder's 4th edition review book. I think that the first tip is actually very helpful,..I will keep on doing that and hopefully I will be able to benefit from Suzanne's plan in the next coming weeks. Thank you all for your reply and your good lucks! I'll give my best to get my license and hope to save lives soon! :heartbeat

Hi!! I am going to be taking boards for a 3rd time on December 4th! The past 2 times I reviewed with Kaplan and did not find success there. This time I am doing Suzanne's plan which I find is helpful!! I have done A LOT of content review with Saunder's Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN. It's a great book and easy to understand. I love it. The thing I am working on right now is positive self talk...which my confidence level is VERY LOW. I am trying to convince myself that I can and will pass NCLEX this time around! I too want that license so I can practice and help save lives soon. Good luck to you :)

For those fellow nurses who did not pass the 1st time, i understand your situation. i myself did not pass my 1st attempt and i am trying to figure out how others studied differently this time. at first, i felt so discouraged but i read an inspiring statement that made me think differently. i read this in another website. the advice goes like this..."You will remain to be where you are if you stop trying." and "if those inventors stopped trying every time they fail, we might not be enjoying modern day conveniences today." like the light bulb etc. Thomas Edison failed a hundred times before he perfected the light bulb and if he stopped trying we might still be using lamps today. lol :typing i hope i inspired some lol
