NCLEX-RN - 265 questions - PVT

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello all,

Took the NCLEX today in Raleigh, NC

Was there a total of 5 and a half hours and answered 265 quesitons.

I have learned from Kaplan and forums that the last question is crucial.

My last question which was a higher level, select all that apply question that I am almost positive that I got right. (Even if I had not I heard that if the last question was high level and you got it wrong your still good to go but that if it was basic and u got it wrong you would have to have gotten the previous 60 questions ALL correct [which sounds nearly impossible]).

I just did the re-registration trick and this is what I got:

Can anyone please offer advice/assurance/opinions that may give me some guidance in this difficult time?

Thank you all, I am so grateful for you all on this forum!

Why do people still doubt the PVT?? SHM!! :p

Because when you get it, at first you are ecstatic, and then soon after doubt starts to creep in and you think that you might be that one person that it ends up being a false positive for, lol. That's how I felt yesterday. I took the test for 6 hours, got the pop up (and still am), however I won't feel completely at ease until I see my name on the BON website.

I just left the testing center here after taking all 265 questions and assumed I failed. Seemed impossible that I passed. did the PVT and got the pop up. God I hope that its accurate. I know countless of people have done it and its been correct. Is there a time limit to how low you wait to do it.

I am far from taking the NCLEX (haven't even started school yet) but why do you hear of some people taking 75 questions and some 265 questions? Does this vary by state or something?

I hate to admit this to all these people becaus it is embarrasing but I had to take the test twice. Both times I had 265 questions and on the second try when I passed I did get the last question wrong. You most likely did pass and Congrats

I am not sure...but I am checking my states BON website frequently on the license verification feature by entering my social security # so fingers crossed that it will show up by this afternoon (if not I am paying for the 48 hour results so I can find out tomorrow morning).

Best wishes! 265 does not mean the end of the world and can be positive - I have learned this from others' testimonies.

No - computer adapted testing is set up to give you questions until it is 95% sure that you are within passing level. If you prove yourself within 75 questions (or disprove yourself - you will see this evidenced by lower level questions) then the computer will cut off and make up its mind, if it is not entirely accurate (but you are still above level in questions) it will continue to give you questions in hopes of you proving to it that you are constant and competent in your responses. In reality, when the computer continues to give you questions it is not a bad sign - it is good because it is giving you a chance to prove yourself and your answer consistency.

State should not matter.
