thanks for the normal values NEVER STOP SMILING always very helpful.......

Thank you Joe17 for bringing this subject to our discussion... because if you feel yourself ready for test because of your previous experience and work in different countries, it's actually not true... You need to apply knowledge from nursing course books (perfect nursing world), not your clinical experience...I was over estimating myself for the 1st time for the same reasons as yours and I failed my test... Now I know what to expect and I already saw how NCLEX test looks like... now I'm not that anxious but still going extra miles for study new materials. Testing is improved and changed since April 2010 and passing rate is much higher then it was before... remember competition is not that friendly on clinical floor... Study wise and use you your time more efficient!!! Best wishes to all of you! Always stay with your patient!

can anyone tell us how the new testing rate changed? i mean whats the passing rate now??

I can't remember if I read it anywhere, but how does the nclex work, whether you pass or fail? What percentage do you have to get right? And is that a percentage overall or a percentage for each category? Thanks if anyone can tell me.

I believe I heard the minimum passing rate now is 77% but I am not positive. I just remember hearing that.

None of them state what they consider the minimum to be in a % form that I can find.

I know it's supposed to in the end be a minimum competence level and that in April 2010 that minimum was raised. But I can't find the specifics on it still.

I just tested myself using NCLEX 4000 with topic: Fundamental nursing, cardiovascular, oncology, endocrine...and got 77%

i just signed up for kaplan

anyone know what else i should do?

i wanna get this over with in 1 shot!

guys hope ur all having a lovely weekend got some really cool stuff called dont predict answer have alook

DON’T PREDICT ANSWERS

Don’t look for the "ideal" answer choice that your expecting.

Example:

The nurse describes the procedure for collecting a clean-catch urine for culture and sensitivity to a male patient. Which of the following explanations, if made by the nurse, would be most accurate?

A. "The urinary meatus is cleansed with an iodine solution and then a urinary drainage catheter is inserted to obtain urine."

B. " You will be asked to empty your bladder one half hour before the test; you ill then be asked to void into a container."

C. "Before voiding, the urinary meatus is cleansed with an iodine solution and urine is voided into a sterile container; the container must not touch the member."

D. "You must void a few drips of urine, then stop; then void the remaining urine into a clean container, which should be immediately covered."

Reworded question
: "What is true about a clean-catch urine specimen for culture and senstivity?"

Correct answer is letter C
. Many students will select letter D because they see the expected words
""Void a few drops; stop; continue voiding."
Be careful. This question is a good example of why scanning for expected words could get you into trouble. You may see expected words in an answer choice that is not correct. (remember sterile specimen is needed for C/S test….using just a clean container is incorrect)
